    Loved it!
This is the second Happily Ever After book. I am just loving this series. I thought it was going to be a typical regency romance with the Beauty and the Beast storyline, but James sensei adds so much more too it.
For example, I really don't care for unnecessary long sex scenes and IMHO the author has put in just enough with fun twists. In this series they were actually romantic as well as sensual and fits the story perfectly.
In this book the heroine Linnet(beauty) is almost faultless while the hero Piers is Dr.House of his time. He is a brilliant doctor but has no bedside manners, has horrible temper, is generally cranky and has a bad leg. I love the banter and battle of the wits that ensues between them.
Unlike the other regency novels there are no rivals, balls and the ton in this story. Instead there are sick patients, arguments and healing in the harsh but beautiful setting in Wales.
I just loved this happily ever after for adults! More please
19th Century Dr. House....I LOVED IT
I absolutely loved this book and I'm really enjoying this fairy tale series by Eloisa James. This is my new favorite romance book! This one made me cry, laugh, made me mad and happy. If you are fan of historical romance or of Eloisa James then I would suggest you get this book right now! You will love it too! A credit worthy listen. 5 stars all around!
    Wonderful book...
I was facing a dreary weekend of housework and chores. Bought this book. Completed my housework and chores lost in the wonderful world Eloisa James created. Definitely worth the credit...lovely story, beautiful writing, definitely a must for those who enjoy this genre.
    Loved it
The female protagonist Linnette was strong, smart and funny. I loved her. Even do the guy was a JERK, one can't help but like him. He is very smart, logical, selfless, very masculine, and extremely rude and arrogant. Yes he is all of that and more. He is not handsome in the traditional sense of the word but he is a MAN, and he makes love to his lady like there is no tomorrow. Great love scenes. Not a predictable book. It had many twist and turns.
    Surprising Combination!
No topic is safe, divorce, drug addiction, child abuse, to forgive or not to forgive... James manages to touch on all of these topics without leaving the listener feeling depressed. Piers Yelverton, The Earl of Merchant, is a gifted physician in the area of diagnosis and treatment with the added gift of making his bedside insults scathing. Linnet Thynne is the beautiful young woman who finds herself in the unfortunate position of needing a husband to avoid scandal. In between insults they seem to find a happy medium by agreeing they would never suit each other.

I loved listening to this book after visiting Biltmore Estate! Deanne does an incredible job of staying accurate to history!
    Wholesome Story
Sweet story set in a beautiful place! Predictable outcome with characters!!! Great narrator for story!!
4.5 STARS OF YUMMY GOODNESS :)
    Any additional comments?
This is such a sweet story. I love sappy, sweet, love stories. They just make me happy. When I am in a foul mood I know I can pick up a "love" story and just be happy. This book did that for me.
Of course it has it's frustrating parts, but that's what keeps me listening :). It's so aggravating listening too a book and knowing that the characters need to get together and they just don't see it. UGH...hehe.
Tillie has dreamt about being a ladies maid for years. Her mother has dreamed of it even longer than that. Tillie's mother prepped her for being a ladies maid her whole life. Tillie is a very determined young woman, and does all she can to take over for Mrs. Vanderbilt's foreign maid when she leaves. What Tillie didn't expect is Mack.
Mmmm....Mack. Handsome, yummy, sweet Mack. Tillie didn't expect Mack. She didn't expect to be drawn to him. She didn't expect Mack to be such a good man. She didn't expect Mack to watch out for her even without her asking. Mack is who all women wish for. hehe. Book boyfriends. HEHE. Mmmm.mmmm...Mack.
This story is so sweet. I loved the setting, the writing, the narrator. Everything. It was just what I was looking for. I love the LOVE story.
If you are looking for a sweet, historical romance this book is just the right thing for you. I loved reading about the house, the way things worked in the house. I love reading about it, but I know I never would have been able to live back then! Even if it gets a little aggravating at times.
    Great story
How hard it was to give up on a dream she thought she had wanted all her life.
    I like this one!
Narration and story were good. Lots of action for an inspirational story. this was a good listen.

New York Times best-selling author Jude Deveraux returns to her roots in this sweeping historical romance with a dazzling story that spans two continents and unites two people who are separated by class, wealth, and education.
In 1766 Scotland, the laird of the clan, Angus McTern, has everything he wants in life. That is, until Edilean Talbot shows up. Breathtakingly beautiful and born of privilege, Edilean represents everything Angus despises. Still, she dazzles him, and when Angus can no longer hide his feelings, she rejects him, leaving him deeply wounded and humiliated. Soon, though, Edilean needs his help to reclaim the gold she inherited from her father. At first Angus refuses, but her haunting beauty and her tears convince him to put aside his pride.
However, when Angus tries to intervene, he is accused of kidnapping and theft. To avoid being prosecuted, he must leave behind all that he knows and escape with Edilean to America. There they will overcome almost insurmountable obstacles as the man who claims the gold for his own endlessly pursues them. Despite all that tries to keep them apart, Angus and Edilean also find a love as wild and free as the land itself. Filled with passion, humor, exquisite detail, and pulse-pounding adventure, Days of Goldis Jude Deveraux at her best.
    Critic Reviews:
"After dozens of novels, Deveraux has a sure hand evoking plucky heroines, dastardly villains and irresistible heroes, as well as a well-rounded supporting cast the pace moves quickly and the romance sparks with enough voltage to keep readers turning pages." (
    Publishers Weekly)
"With the promise of future books about surprising and interesting Edilean, veteran storyteller Deveraux incorporates her trademark sweet and salty characters into a pair of entertaining romances, one past, one present, to create one of her most fun and pleasing tales." (
    Booklist)
"Family ties, small town values and unexpected love in a picturesque settings have made Deveraux a longtime bestselling author, so it's no surprise that she again delivers.... Readers will find it hard to resist the charms of Edilean, the manor house, the town, the woman of many secrets and, of course, the series to come." (

    Days of Gold
    Any additional comments?
This is one of the better Jude Devereaux romances. The chemistry between lead characters is great. Although there is adult content, I wouldn't hesitate for a teen interested in historical romance to read. I'm not sure where this story fits in the chronology of exactly when it was released in the series by Devereaux, but it is the background story of the town named Edeline This town appears in Lavender Morning, and if I'd known, I would have read Days of Gold first.
The real star in this story is the reader, Davina Porter. She is, hands down, my favorite female reader and I have no doubt I enjoyed the story partially because of her narration. Her diction is superb, the male voices excellent. I highly recommend anyone interested in the world of audio books listen to Davina at least once. In addition to Devereaux books, Davina Porter is the reader for the Outlander series by Gabaldon. The lead male character in Days of Gold is a man named Angus. He has the same voice as Jamie in the Outlander books ...

    Amazing
This is my favorite Sabrina Jeffries book and hearing the characters come to life was refreshing. I loved it.
    Best book of the Series
This one has the best storyline and great heart. Venetia's and Lochlan love shines through even when they don't see it.
    Cute Story
    Any additional comments?
Good listen. Kept my attention throughout. The story was not quite as formulaic as many of the Highland romance stories. Lachlan is a strong strapping Highland lad and Venetia is a feisty Scottish lass, raised in England. She is not as hard to deal with as many of the heroines are in these type romances. I liked the chemistry between the two and I believe that is what made the story engaging. The reader was okay - not bad but not outstanding.
    Nice story
This was supposed to be in the Scottish Highlands but the narrator had a cockney accent. It almost drove me nuts to listen to it. It would have been a much better listen if she used her normal English accent. Because of the narrator's awful version of a Scottish accent I only gave two stars for performance. It was a nice story but terrible narrating.
    The kidnap
Very funny lines I enjoyed it, love the accents done very well. Lots of little cliff one of the best in the series so far.

Damon Reeve, the earl, is determined to protect the exquisite Roberta from chasing after the wrong destiny. Critic Reviews:
"The first in a sparkling new series set in the scandalously fun Georgian era by best-selling and award-winning James, this is a gracefully written, lusciously sensual, delectably witty, and exquisitely romantic historical romance." (

Should have been named scandalous duchess
Another Eloisa James winner. I love the series though I tend to not read any series in order. Reading other books in between allows me to get out of the writing style of that author and when I go back for another book, I find the stories more enjoyable. This was the case with this book and now I am sorry I read A duke of her own before this book since I find the Duke of Villiers most fascinating. A great mixture of passion, love and impropriety to add spice to this historical novel. A must read.
    Excellent start to a series!
After reading a few of the reviews, I was hesitant to purchase this book. I am so very glad that I did. The author endears you to the characters and makes you want to continue on the journey with the characters in future novels. I am very excited to get to the Duke and Dutchess of Beaumont's story and to see what happens with other characters that were introduced. The love story between Damon and Roberta is lovely and the Duke of Villers is a perfect character to be humbled by the love of a good woman further in the series. I am only dissapointed that Audible does not offer the entire series. I normally don't have time to read, which is why I adore my audiobooks, but I will make time for this series! Worth a credit!
    An outstanding cast of characters!
I thoroughly enjoyed Rosalyn Landor's performance of DESPERATE DUCHESSES. She did a remarkable job with different characters' voices, dialects, inflections; I knew who was speaking (from the performance) prior to the tag (writer telling us who spoke).
This book by Eloisa James was full and rich, a tapestry woven of many different story threads. Separate romances between different duchesses and their dukes. While there was one main love story, the secondary were every bit as entertaining and set up the rest of the series splendidly. It made me want to delve into the rest of them!
I found the storyline very easy to follow, partially because of the superb narration. While there were far more characters of consequence in this novel compared to other books, I found it very well told. Zero confusion. Interlocking plot elements.

    This is a great series
Light funny listening, mystery subplot that doesn't over power. It takes a while to get used to the narrator but after listening I really did like her heavy scottish accent.
    Loved it!
This is a great read. I love the humor in all of the Highland books. I can't wait for something new.
    Odd title but good book!
As usual Lynsay Sands has given us another spellbinding and intriguing tale. I always enjoy her plots with their great Loves and all the twists and turns of a good mystery. Her characters spring to life and her visuals form distinct settings for her stories. I enjoy a good Highland tale with it's inevitably hunk of a hero and beautiful heroine wrapped up in a epic love story. This is the quintessential historical romance at its finest.
NARRATOR : Marianna Palka is never among my favorites or even close yet I don't totally avoid her either. It is the odd cadence of her performance that bothers me. Her characters are each unique and recognizable and she does not speak with distracting mouthy sounds. Listen to her in the snippet!
    CREDITWORTY? Yes.
    HEAT FACTOR: Steamy!!
    Great Book!
    Any additional comments?
This is a must read book, I think the narrorator did an amazing job in capturing the Irish accent. I found myself identifying with the main character and hoping for a great outcome!
    Another great Highlander romance
If you like romance stories about the Highlanders, I do recommend this one. I will buy more from this author. In fact I did get all the books in this series and loved them all. I just love when I feel like my credit was well spent!

At five and 20, Prudence Merryweather knew very well the risks a woman took by visiting a gentleman in the dead of night. But bearding the notorious Earl of Angelstone in his den was the only way to stop him from engaging her hot-headed brother in a duel. And that was why she found herself ushered into Sebastian's forbidding presence at three in the morning - and thoroughly kissed before dawn.
She was a country-bred innocent - and an intriguing experience for a man who dwelt more in the shadows than in the sunshine. Yet as her boldness drew Prue into one dangerous episode after another, Sebastian found himself torn between a raging hunger to possess her and a driving need to protect her. And the reckless beauty would soon need all the protection she could get.
    Members Reviews:
    Not for me.
Sebastian is an Earl who is bored, so he investigates crimes for fun. A Bow Street Runner brings him crimes to solve. Prudence investigates ghosts for free. She meets Sebastian and wants to participate in his investigative work. She follows him to a bedroom during a party which does not help. Of course they are seen, so they have to become engaged to protect her reputation. Prudence is a Mary Sue character (poorly developed, too perfect and lacking in realism to be interesting). She is a young single lady running around without a chaperone. Some of her actions are silly and stupid.
There are three or four investigations during the book. The author focused on those instead of developing characters and relationships. There are three sex scenes. There is also a kidnapping and rape scene that is described after the fact. Im usually ok reading about violence and rape, but this one made me feel sick.
It doesnt matter to me if its historically accurate or not. But I did not care for Prudences overly wordy dialogue. Other characters use the word ghost. Prudence calls them spectral phenomena to imply her supposedly scientific nature. For example, someone asks her if shes ever seen a ghost. For some reason the memory of the presence she thought she had detected in the black chamber at Curling castle flashed into Prudences mind. There was one instance where I believed I might have discovered a genuine example of spectral phenomena she said slowly. But I was unable to find any evidence to support my conclusion. Another example I believe I may have witnessed some significant evidence of spectral phenomena.
Prudence also used the word my lord too much. Heres an example using the word Tom instead of my lord. Are you awake Tom? Would you like some breakfast Tom? What do you want to do today Tom? I saw my sister yesterday Tom.
Prudence insists Sebastian mend the problems with his relatives. Ive noticed this author puts family bonds and paranormal in a lot of her writing. They were here.
    AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:
Anne Flosnik was very good. She used a variety of voices. He male voices werent perfect, but they were better than those by some other female narrators. I like her British accent. It was pleasant to listen to.
    DATA:
    Narrative mode: 3rd person.
Genre: historical romance with some paranormal.
    OTHER BOOKS:
Im not having good luck with Amanda Quick books. Ive read four and gave them 3 stars or less. However Ive really enjoyed some Jayne Ann Krentz books (her other name).

The narrator often makes or breaks a story
Would you try another book from Sabrina Jeffries and/or Justine Eyre?
I've always enjoyed Ms. Jeffries, and I'd try another book narrated by Ms. Eyre---as long as she didn't make another attempt at depicting an American male voice.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
    Meh. Kind of lackluster.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Her portrayal of British characters was fine. Her narration of an American female character was tepid, but okay. However, her attempt at portraying the hero, an American soldier, was DISMAL, and really ended up ruining the book for me. I was continuously yanked out of the story by it. She made him sound like---I don't know, a hillbilly more than anything else. In addition to that, she very often had him slipping into British pronunciations. Perhaps the worst thing was her very annoying habit of continuously (when in the hero's voice) pronouncing the word
Do you think Never Seduce a Scoundrel needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Perhaps she could have the hero fall back into his old fears...but I don't know that there would be enough there for a whole new story.
    Any additional comments?
Justine Eyre = American male voice = (shudder)
    Good Story
The only reason I'm I'm not giving this a fulll five stars is because of the narrator's character voices. Her accents sounded off to me, especially the Scotsmen. They sounded very Irish and not Scottish.
Good book to READ with hot and steamy romance.
This was a good book. I read most of it only listening to first few chapters as I didn't like the voice the narrator used for Lucas, the voice she used for him as atrocious. It made him sound like an unmanly idiot, however reading it was so so so much better. The narrator did much better with the rest of the characters and the reading. I would recommend reading this book and not listening to it. It was a very fast read as there was dialog throughout the entire book which is much more preferable than reading descriptions and thoughts of the characters. I love the way Sabrina Jeffries writes, she is a new author to me and I plan on reading many more of her books. (She has a fantastic website too)
The Heroine in the book was strong and has mind of her, which is much more preferable than a crying, whimpering heroine. The sex in the book was hot and steamy and very well written. I totally recommend this book for reading, unless you can get past the voice of Lucas.
Its too bad when audible puts a sample up you don't get to hear the main characters voices the narrator uses.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    yes
    Any additional comments?
the book was very good with good story line.
    great series
Would you consider the audio edition of Texas! Chase to be better than the print version?
I only listened to the book and I enjoyed it, as I do with most audio books. Makes them come alive
    Loved it
Another best for Sandra Brown, Narrator was great too. I love to listen to all of her books.
Huge fan of Sandra Brown but this book was a big disappointment
I've read and/or listened to 90% of Sandra Browns books. This is the first one that I could barely finish and only did in the hopes it would get better. The lead male is a self centered jerk that had me feeling disgusted most of the time. Not worth the credit or time.

    Was entertaining
Loved the lead male character, he was strong and almost mean...but not. Good narroration. Definately worth the read/listen.
    Surrneder
Amanda Quck at her best along with the flawless reading of Anne Flosnik, brings smiles and suspense to the listener. Absolutely a great book
Not bad... But not great either
    Setting: England (early 1800s?)
    Genre: Romantic suspense
Narration was average. I'm getting used to Anne Flosnik, but she's still not in my favorites list. I just find her performances inconsistent. Maybe it's the director? At least she doesn't mispronounce words.
This was JAK's second Amanda Quick, but by no means was it early in her career. The plot was interesting, with a fortune hunter-shy bluestocking heiress and a sexy, wounded war hero fortune-hunter. The relationship between them is contentious throughout the book. She is progressive, he is chauvinistic. There is more compromise by the HEA, but the argumentative nature of the relationship is the main plot device in the romance. The suspense part of the story was way too much in the background. There wasn't enough build-up to make the resolution satisfying, though half of that was a total surprise for me. There should have been more mysterious occurrences, and they should have been more threatening.
I got this in a BOGO, and it was worth the half credit. It is probably worth a full credit if you have an emotional attachment to AQ, like I do. I'll probably listen again, if I ever get enough self-discipline to stop buying credits (I'm on my 3rd Platinum Membership for the year so far).
    devine
deliviously devine entertaining, with quick wit. .loved it...a great introduction to the sensational story telling of the Quick books
    couldn't finish it
well, i wanted to like this - description sounded good and some good reviews but i personally couldn't finish it - to put it simply - it has more expected romance novel situations and lines than i could stand - so corny and predictable and not believable. i rarely don't finish a book so enough said.
