    Publisher's Summary:
Drawn to the glitters of desire that burned in his emerald eyes, Sophy had her own reasons for agreeing to a marriage of convenience. One was vengeance, and in it's pursuit she would entangle Julian in a dangerous masquerade. The other reason was dearer to her heart but just as wild a quest: Sophy Dorring intended to teach the devil to love again.

why do I like this book?
    Let me count the ways:
I liked the characters (they are fun, funny, and overall likeable. Wish we could have known the bad guy a little more).
I liked the setting (awww, who doesn't like a little historical romance?)
I liked the narrator (Great voices, pretty consistant).
I like the voice (easy to understand, not passive or irritating)
I like the pacing (moves along with fun detail)
I like the story ("and they lived . . ." well, you'll have to read the book to find out).
All in all, it was a fun read.
    Enjoy.
    Great Entertainment!
"Seduction" is one of Quick's earlier books, a straight forward regency (before the PNR elements entered into so much of her work) and one of her first historicals.
The story begins with the cynical widower Julian, the Earl of Ravenwood, proposing marriage to country-bred Sophy Dorring in the hopes that she will prove easy to manage while providing him with heirs. Julian, believing Sophy to be firmly on the shelf, having failed during her one and only season, should be grateful for his offer, but she turned him down. Although Sophy has loved Julian for years, she will not agree to marry him unless he agrees to specific conditions. Not to be one who takes "no" for an answer, he finally agrees, and they marry immediately. Julian thought that because of her age and having resided in the country he was getting someone who would provide him an heir and be no trouble. Little did he know! Sophy has a hidden agenda for wanting to marry Julian.
The story-line may not sound very different than a hundred other historical romances, but this is not your typical, run-of-the-mill historical romance, it is quite UNIQUE. There are aspects of the story that I don't remember encountering in other books, and I have read and heard hundreds of historical romances.
You'll find scandal, humor, intrigue, revenge, unusual duels, romance -- with strong secondary characters.
As great as Anne Flosnik is, I think she has out-done herself in "Seduction", she was flawless! ....Well worth a credit, but I was happy to get it on sale--3 books for 2 credits!
    Good light read
Overall a good story that was enteratining, but Sophy was a bit petulant. Gotta love the tough guy husband, though.
    Wow
Love this book the narrators English accent made this book real, it had my attention for start to finish I enjoyed every word
Reasons why I liked this story
It started with the usual formula of the nobleman marrying ,for whatever reason. He wanted the heir and no trouble and she wanted love and equality. Underlying, the trappings of the story was an honest discussion of a women's status in these type of marriages. Each character debated (or though very heated arguments)
the male and female perspective. Julian had the preceived notions on marriage
for the times. Sophy was more progressive. The only difference between a
mistress and a wife, was the later had a retirement plan. Julian's aunt and her female companion had a deep, loving and understanding friendship.

With a sour reputation, Baron Montford certainly has a steep hill to climb - will he lose his wager or perhaps even his heart?
    Members Reviews:
    Dear Anne Flosnik...
Just thought you should know, that the word, "gown" does not have 2 syllables and the word "help" sounds ridiculous when drawn out a full 3 second.
I know, I know, you are very popular and work all the time and do 1 billion books a year. I just have to say that I do skip books that you have narrated because they just sound so contrived and silly and pretentious.
Sorry, my dear. I just had to say it.
PS We all know this is really for the publishers!
Predictable, almost a duplicate of the first book
Would you try another book from Mary Balogh and/or Anne Flosnik?
Anne Flosnik is a wonderful narrator for the regency romance novel. She can make an average novel seem better. Mary Balogh's book 2 is so similar to book 1, that I'm not sure there is a point to getting book 3.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
The ending was good. I loved the mud pit scene.
Which character as performed by Anne Flosnik was your favorite?
    The grouchy uncle was awesome!!
Could you see Then Comes Seduction being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
This is not TV/ movie material
    What a let down...
It pains me to write this review about an author I have the deepest respect for. This is definitely Balgh's weakest book in my opinion and I am quite disappointed with it. When introduced in book 1, Katherine seemed quite different from her character in book 2. The scene in Vauxhall gardens with Baron Montford was too unrealistic and absolutely out of character between her and a man she knew to be a "rake" of the 1st order. The pace of the story was too slow and the plot failed to draw me in. I felt that it was contrived and forced. There were no sparks between these two and I frankly could not care what happened to them. There was none of the sexually tensed banter, no moment that tugged at one's heart and no strong/proud heroine that came remotely close to the Ms Martin school's heroines of the Simply series. I gave all the simply series books 5 stars and expected the same quality of work from this author. I'm glad this is not my first listen/read for Mrs Balogh and I hope that book 3 (Meg's story) will be much better, otherwise it will be to this reader's great loss as Mrs Balogh is usually a top notch writer and this one fell short in my humble opinion.
    A Delicious, Light Read
The narration is great. Anne Flosnick does a great job with character voices and mood. It's a basic story line: 2 people enter a marriage unwillingly and fall in love. Nice, light "vacation" read.

    Members Reviews:
A great introduction to the Quintet
Mary Balogh is always exquisite in her writing style. Her dialogue is very refined and flows beautifully. This book served as an introduction to the Huxtable family: eldest sister Margaret is beautiful and a nurturer, middle sister Vanessa is funny and plain, youngest sister Katherine is sweet and very pretty and their baby brother Stephen whom they are all looking after. The first book is the story of Vanessa and Lyndgate. They marry for convenience and then, this being a romance novel, fall in love. What I love about Balogh's characters is that they are flawed but very likeable and the siblings have a strong sense of loyalty and duty. What I found missing is the development of feelings between the 2 main characters. It lacked the depth of feelings that I found in Simply Love which was also about a couple marrying for convenience. I just felt that it was slightly rushed. I was also disappointed that Roz Landor was not the narrator. I just think she is the best for Regency Romance. Nevertheless, it was a good book and I can't wait to know what happens to the rest of the Huxtables, especially Meg and their cousin Con, the most complex and interesting character in the book. Of course, Mrs Balogh left him till the 5th and last book of the series. Get this one and the Simply series, you won't regret it.
    Totally insipid.
This was one of the most boring books I have listened to. I kept waiting for something to happen, but it never did. Awful.
    Painfully Bad
I cannot decide which I hated more: the plodding, pedantic narration or the plodding pedantic writing. I usually love Regency romances and I was looking forward to a series but this one is horrible and absolutely humorless. It is as if the Author tried to lengthen the book by stating the obvious over and over again -- And just in case you didn't get it the first time, she repeats what the characters are thinking a chapter later. No one can be as stupid in real life as the shallow characters Balough has concocted for this book. Save your money!! This book makes Georgette Hyer seem like Shakespeare.
Sort of like an occasional chocolate!
I got this on sale because it was a fun and light story with enough depth to not put me to sleep or make me laugh out loud at the simplicity of plot.
    The writing is good.
The plot interesting with a few twists and turns.
Characters had some depth and development. Not your usual heaving bosoms and darkly handsome misunderstood and incredibly rich secretly wounded older and wiser artistocratic male lead.

    Publisher's Summary:
But now he's restless and bored with the mindless frivolity and careless pleasure, so it's with a sense of relief that he takes up the reins of his family's estate in rural Devon. His most pressing need is to hire a new manager for the inn; the center of village life. Such a small task, yet he discovers few decent applicants are willing to live in a quiet country backwater.
Then genteel but impoverished Miss Emily Beauregard applies for the position. Jonas's initial response is an emphatic "no!" Ladies, especially one as attractive as Emily, belong in the ballroom or the bedroom, not running an inn. But with no alternatives, he grudgingly allows Emily to try, and she rapidly proves herself worthy, resurrecting the inn with tact and skill.
But Emily has a secret. It's not only the need to provide for herself and her orphaned siblings that has brought her to Devon. She's surreptitiously searching for a family treasure hidden in the village, the only clues to its location a cryptic rhyme handed down through the generations. Emily is determined to solve the puzzle, find the treasure, and reinstate her family to its rightful place in society.
But Em hasn't bargained on Jonas. His experience is temptation, his attentions irresistible, and he's determined to aid her in her quest. He eventually persuades her to trust him, and together they unravel the clues. But someone else is watching, waiting, and once the family legacy is unearthed, the villain strikes, threatening Em, her family, and the love she and Jonas have discovered in each other's arms.
    Editorial Reviews:
At first sounding prim and proper, like the British gentry she depicts in this Regency romance, Rosalyn Landor quickly shows why she's an award-winning narrator. She convincingly portrays terrified 10-year-old girls, ardent lovers, nefarious kidnappers, and disgruntled relatives. As the passion between innkeeper Emily Beauregard and gentleman Jonas Tallent threatens to boil over, Landor's even pacing serves to increase the anticipation. Landor usually brings just the right tone to each character's voice and delivers an overall impressive performance.
    Members Reviews:
    Way too long
Typical writing by Laurens except that in this novel the plot is relatively thin, it's clear where we're headed almost from the first page, and it just plain takes too long to get there. I'm all for romance and sex, but when a single kiss lasts for 30 min of audio, that's overkill. The lead male is a little thin, and his path to falling for the heroine isn't fleshed out well. In contrast, the heroine is better developed, although she seems a little too adamant about the usual plot device of "aristocracy" and "commoner" falling in love.

    Publisher's Summary:
Of course, Anthony Stalbridge couldn't possibly have had romantic intentions. The kiss was an act of desperation, meant to distract the armed guard who was about to catch the pair in a place they most definitely did not belong. After all, in her dull maroon gown and gold-rimmed spectacles, Louisa Bryce was no man's idea of an alluring female. Clearly, the only thing a catch like Anthony Stalbridge had in common with a wallflower like Louisa was a passionate interest in the private affairs of Mr. Hastings - a prominent member of society whom they both suspect of hiding terrible secrets. Now, thrown into each other's arms by their ruse, Anthony and Louisa are united in their efforts to find the truth.
Each has a personal reason for the quest. Months earlier, Anthony's fiancée threw herself into the Thames - or at least, that is the version whispered in London's social circles. Anthony believes someone else may have had a hand in her death - and a murderous one at that. Louisa, whose own identity is shrouded in layers of mystery, is convinced that Hastings has a connection to a notorious brothel.
When Anthony successfully cracks Hastings's hidden safe and discovers highly incriminating evidence, it appears that both their instincts were correct.
But Hastings is hiding far more than jewels and ledger books. Bringing him to justice will be more perilous than Louisa and Anthony anticipate - and their partnership will be more heated than either expects. For the two share a thrilling attraction to danger, and it is not only Anthony's curiosity that Louisa arouses.

    Stand-Alone Victorian Era Romantic Suspense
Entertaining whodunit, and Kellgren's narration is crisp yet easy on the ears except for a few abrasive tones assigned to a few male characters. For example, the hero always sounds fine (easy on the ears), but I disliked Mr. Digby's querulous, angry tones (thank goodness, he's just a bit part). With the buds in my ears, caustic tones hurt.
This is a stand-alone novel, not part of the Arcane Series, and not paranormal. A romantic suspense, THE RIVER KNOWS is set in London towards the end of the Victorian era. One recurring theme is women's clothing:
    ********
"But she and Emma were both staunch advocates of the rational dress movement, which held that ladies should wear no more than seven pounds of underwear. As for corsets, the movement had wisely declared them to be injurious to womens health."
    ********
In the prologue, the heroine kills an English lord in self-defense. A year later, she is living under an assumed name, disguised as a drab, and working as an undercover reporter. I like that kind of set-up -- a fairly common trope in Quick's historicals.
A decent whodunit (but nothing special), with snappy dialogue, suspense, humor, and some heartwarming loyalty scenes. A few secondary characters added to the fun, especially Louisa's dear friend Emma and Anthony's delightful, intrepid family. A few psychopathic villains kept the momentum moving, and Inspector Fowler made another welcome appearance.
Quick went with her formula, but it's a good one, and at least you know what you're getting.
Contents include three sex scenes (one is a fade-to-black scene). Minimal cursing or profanity, but there is some. No pejorative terms for female anatomy.

Please don't waste your time or your money
Oh my. If cheap, formulaic romance fiction is your preferred genre, then help yourself to this one. Maybe you can stand it. This one is definitely not for me. I tried. After all, I had spent a credit on it! I made it about halfway through but by that point, I was laughing out loud at situations and lines that were not meant to be funny. It was just so over the top. So ridiculous. The situations, the language, the salacious and totally unbelievable sex scenes - I just could not take any more. Be warned!
    Loved it
I absolutely loved the book can not wait till the she writes about the brothers and sisters will definitly buy those books as soon as I can
You are going to love Lord Stoneville!!!
If you could sum up The Truth about Lord Stoneville in three words, what would they be?

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Truth about Lord Stoneville?
I love the end of the book when they realize all the mistakes they were making
    Which scene was your favorite?
When they meet for the first time in the brothel
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Ummmmmmmm Certainly turned up the heat, let's put it that way....
    SOME GOOD LOVE SCENES
I REALLY LIKE THE BOOKS ABOUT DUKES, SO I CAN SAY I REALLY LIKED THIS BOOK. AND IT HAD A COUPLE STEAMY LOVE SCENES. WHICH IS ALWAYS A PLUS.
    Lame, Formulaic Storyline
The storyline is just so formulaic and boring. A very weak story created as an excuse to get from one seduction/sex scene to another. I'm all for light entertainment and I wasn't expecting some deep story - but this is just bad.

Crippled by her timidity, she hardly looked at him when they'd met during her first London season. But he had spoken to her father, determined to ask her for her hand. Her siblings, Serena and Benedict, find this highly amusing, but after Honoria overhears a conversation between her parents about their finances, she realises she must marry Mr. Allison, and this constraint leaves her martyred and unhappy and unable to share her feelings.
When Mr. Allison arrives, there is another problem. One to do with her sister, Serena.
Mr. Allison, (annoyingly handsome and kind) fails to propose as expected and leaves abruptly - but invites the confused family to stay at Bassington Hall, his own country home. His kindness to all her family leaves Honoria with no legitimate excuse to escape marriage. Mr. Scribster, his ugly, unpleasant, unfeeling friend, guesses more than she would like and offers Honoria a place to concentrate her dislike and frustration.
Meanwhile, Benedict embarks on an adventure with his rogue of an uncle, Wilbert, to save his childhood friend and neighbour, Genevieve Horton, who has become the unhappy Lady Sumner. By learning some scandalous skills, Benedict hopes to give some options to the most trapped figure in all of polite society - an unhappy wife.

Regency Romance - with plenty of twists & humour
Slow and clever plot development, a few sub plots, and humour that in in one part (chapter 25) was extraordinarily funny.
The plot starts with a couple of misunderstandings, but an elegent enough reason for no one to communicate their concerns, to get the novel going. I really enjoyed the listen and even towards the end I could not see how the main characters were going to acheive their HEA with only three chapters left.
If you liked Clarrissa and the Poor Relations, or if you like Regencies romances with humor and wit, you will not be disappointed at all with this novel. Narrator was very good.
Romance, Mystery & Lots of Laughs
4 1/2 This was such a fun book to read that I had trouble putting it down. Ive read 2 novels and a novella by Alicia Cameron in the past week and now have two of my daughters reading them too. So many smiles between us and even outright laughter. Great characters, a bit of mystery, at least one nasty villain, and several heroes and heroines. Lots of warm fuzzy family relationships and even some truly awkward moments working through relationships and mixups. My only complaint is that one of the primary characters is called ugly numerous times by a young lady and ultimately I thought it was a bit much...especially after some changes in appearance and in relationships. To be honest is one thing but as a friendship develops it seems that honestly might have been stated with a bit more warmth or at least less harshness. However, I LOVE the book, the characters, the storyline, and of course the HEAs. Very good narration.
    A real feel-good listen
    Any additional comments?
I loved the first book by this writer (Clarissa and the Poor Relations), and this one is just as good. Two very different narrators, but both pinned it.

I enjoyed Tomas as the third in the Time Travel Romance series! This story focuses more on Tomas and the spell he was under - and Amber's determination to free him...
I enjoyed this book as it is a great way to escape the world and enter a magical place with fun characters! Tavish and Kelsey, Seamus and Sasha, as well as others were growing with the story and fleshed this out beautifully. The different characters are well developed and feel real... The author has created a believable world where we feel we are there! The stories are intriguing and keep you reading til the very end! Again, this is a wonderful book to lose yourself in... when you need an escape with pure enjoyment!
The author has written another engaging tale surrounding a group of previously close-knit friends... Tomas and Amber find each other, but... there are obstacles. If you love adventure, romance, going back in time, fighting evil... you will love Tomas! (And, you might want to read the others as well since you might get hooked!)
Time-travel, adventure and romance...and Scottish highlanders. What's not to love?
This is book #3 in a series, and though I enjoyed the story of Toma's and Amber, I didn't like it as much as I liked the first two books.
It has all the same wonderful characters, and plenty of adventure and romance. I just didn't care for some parts of the storyline as much.
Still, it's a good time-travel adventure story, and I do recommend this whole series. I look forward to reading more by this author.
"Tomas" is a light, fun romantic romp through the ancient Scottish countryside.
The writing is as thin in "Tomas" as it was in the other two books. The author barely introduced most of the characters and didn't make even the main characters more than two-dimentional. She seemed to assume that her readers had already read the first books. The main characters in those two are not given much depth in "Tomas", as if she felt that she didn't need to do more than name them.
All in all the book was a light romp through the ancient Scottish countryside where the girl finally got the guy and it ended happpily. The bad guys were dust (so to speak) and the good guys win. A touching finale to the series.
All is fair in love and war
So much going on as well as the time travel. Very interesting story. Some a little far fetched, but still interesting. I do recommend reading it if you love Highlanders and all the joy they bring to a story.
    Exciting
    Another great read.

The rules of marriage...according to Miss Annabel Essex. A husband must be:
Isn't she lucky? She's found just the man! And her chosen spouse is nothing like the impoverished Scottish Earl of Ardmore, who has nothing but his gorgeous eyes, his brain - and his kisses - to recommend him.
So what cruel twist of fate put her in a carriage on her way to Scotland with just that impoverished earl and all the world thinking they're man and wife? Sleeping in the same bed? Not to mention the game of words started by the earl - in which the prize is a kiss. And the forfeit....
Well. They are almost married, after all!

    Lovely story
    Any additional comments?
Another good book by Eloisa James. I can't imagine living in times like this where what people said about you could alter your life forever. In this book, Annabel Essex has to get married to the Earl of Ardmore because of a scandal brought on by the lies sold to the papers. He takes her to Scotland to wed her in his homeland and promises to not compromise her until they reach their destination and are married. Their journey brings them in a close enough contact that they fall madly and passionately in love.
Good storyline, narration and love story.
    Frustrating leads
I generally really like Eloisa James stories but both the leads in this one were very frustrating. Annabel is really not very likable. Even tho she grows up poor and plans to marry a rich man, it doesn't excuse her whiny and self pitying attitude in most of the book. I didn't mind the male lead, Ewan, that much till they get to Scotland and he pulls a trick on her to test her. Then he became a jerk too. Eloisa James is usually witty and fun. This story is just old tired tropes not very well handled.
Susan Duerdan was ok. She perhaps whispered too much but she did her best with what she had to work with.
    funny and sweet
I loved it. I laughed a lot. but also a good story. if you want something warm and fun this is it.
not as god as the others
I really did not like the story line of this book could not finish it..
