What a wonderful book.

From the first chapter, you will be drawn in. This book is one of the best coming out books I've read. ( note, this is really not about coming out it's just something with in the story of one of the characters that blossoms) I highly recommend it yo anyone who wants a feel good read with a great and satisfying ending.

Good Car; Bad Engine

The author tells an excellent story and the whole concept of the novel is a good one; unfortunately the underlying concept drops the level precipitously. Genevieve Applegate is a straight woman who answers an add without really looking at it and finds herself posing as a lesbian and writing for an LGBT periodical. The premise that causes the problem for me is that the author takes the job without doing any research or preparing a cover story; thus keeps being surprised by questions and situations she would have logically come up with stories to cover. Then even when apprised of the nature of the office culture, she does only cursory research and still doesn't assemble any sort of fictional life story. Then there is the shock she feels when approached by women as if it's an unimaginable happening; every time it happens. The lead characters are well drawn and likable and the secondary players work quite well. If you can appreciate a good story despite a bad premise and can suspend disbelief in order to enjoy a good narrative, give this one a shot.

Excellent audio!

I really enjoyed Fake it till You Make it. I was a little put off by the title. But ended up buying it anyway. Interesting story of a young journalist trying to make it. Most readers/listeners are going to have problems with a lie in the work place and to fellow co workers. This is where the debates will center on. When is it acceptable ? Or never acceptable? AJ Ferraro does her usual excellent job with the narration.

Overall Good Listen!

I enjoyed this book, there were alot of cooky and funny moments that made me laugh out loud. The characters were interesting, had some good chemistry, and thr plot wasn't overly absorbed and realistic. The narrator did a great job as well conveying the emotions felts by the characters,

The story repeats itself, every chapter revises the previous one unnecessarily.

Ms De Bruins reading is monotonous and quite boring... It is good that I could read this book through the romance package and didnt spend any money on it...

Would you consider the audio edition of Artistic Pursuits to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version but it would be hard to beat the audio.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Artistic Pursuits?

There was a very dramatic moment at the end had me really swiping at my kindle and nibbling my nails. (sorry can't say it would be a spoiler)

What about John Solos performance did you like?

I love John Solo's performances. his voice is perfect for this series and he gave each character a distinctive personality. I have to say I was impressed with a secondary character in this book and I think John solo really made that prominent.

No not really other than an audible gasp at the memorable moment I couldn't mention above.

This is the third book in the Art Series and stands perfectly on its own. It is an entirely different story, though we get a brief visit with Nicolai and Brian,

Artistic Pursuits is more of a mystery suspense than the first two books.

rank is an FBI agent that is trying to redeem himself. He gets a case about some missing Tiffany windows and an Interpol agent from London steps in. Leslie is trying to get a shady art collector in Japan and is hoping these windows lead him to them.

As in all Andrew Grey books, the characters are intriguing. The story is interesting and sexy. A perfect read for anyone liking MM mystery suspense with a touch of hot man-sex.

A fabulous ending to the first story and new love

I have been waiting to see how Dieter's case plays out and how Brians story unfolds. I adored Nicolai. Having a physically challenged character as the main character was such a fresh character. Nicolai is not damaged. He is very adept in himself. He knows he will never hear again and it doesn't bother him. Brian handles his attraction and feelings for Nicolai like a true champ. In my book that makes Brian a true prince. I also liked Zoe and how she brought such fun and charm and smiles to the story especially when she explains the birds and bees to her dad. I laughed my head off.

I liked how the two stories unfolded so well together. We not only got closer for Gerald and Dieter but a fresh romance with Brian and Nicolai and a bit of drama with the court case, Brian's ex and Nicolai's ex.

If you like a fast-paced story with well-flesh characters, unique characters, deaf men, cute kids and some man-love you will love this book. You don't have to read the first book but it does help you understand who Dieter and Gerald are and why Brian took over the case.

Wonderful sequel

Artistic Appeal is a continuation of book one. In book one, Legal Artistry, Brian is a Partner in the same Law firm as Gerald and they worked to get painting of The Woman in Blue back. Brian confides in Gerald he only married because Barbara was pregnant and this book, Artistic Appeal, is Brian's story. Now divorced Brian is ready to explore his sexuality.

I really like that although this book follows on from book one it is a very different story. With this story Brian has to fight his harpy of an ex-wife for custody of his daughter Zoe, come out to his family and Nicolai has a stalker. It really makes a good story all rolled up with whether or not they defeat the appeal. There is a lot going on and it keeps the pace steady so I never wavered in my interest.

If you're looking for a steamy, friends to lovers, beach/holiday listen with fairly low angst and you've liked Jay Northcote in the past - you should definitely check this out.

There's no reinvention of the wheel here. It's pretty formulaic, and similar in tone and plot to other Northcote novels.

When Adam finds out his long-term boyfriend/fiancé is leaving him for another man, he goes to his best friend, Finn, for comfort. Finn ends up going with Adam on a summer holiday to Spain that had originally been for Adam and the ex.

The plan is simple, tried, and true - get over his ex by getting under someone new.

There's definitely some high steamy moments here - starting with a threesome that acts as the catalyst to Adam and Finn finally breaking the friends-only barrier. Once the wall is down it's all sex, all the time.

There's also the obvious miscommunication where neither Finn or Adam can tell they are falling for the other and keep saying things that make it seem like they want to only remain friends, when the opposite is totally the case.

Of course, there's finally the AHA! moment where they finally gets themselves on the same page and there's a HFN/HEA to be had in the end.

Mark Steadman narrates the British character voices with ease and it's an easy listen overall for the most part. I once again noticed Steadman's pacing as I continue to have issues with his excessive pauses and his inflection at times. However, I was prepared for his performance as it seems that's just how he narrates.

All in all I recommend Summer Heat if you're in the mood for a quick listen with a lot of sexy times coupled with a light, low-angst read.

Summer Heat is exactly the type of story that I expect from Jay Northcote. This is a friends to lovers story with no real angst and a lot of focus on sex. Adam is dumped by his fiance, who has been cheating on him with a younger man. Adam runs to his best friend, Finn, for a place to stay and comfort. Finn hates that Adam is upset, but he's happy that Adam is now single. Finn's never liked Adam's fiance and has had a crush on him but never had a chance to act on it. Adam is setting in when he suddenly remembers the vacation he had already paid for and instead of his fiance, Finn goes in his place. Of course, the two men have to share a room and a bed on this vacation.

Story great, reader not

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend this book as an ebook or hard copy but not as an audiobook. The reader's voice is abrasive and her style is depressing no matter what she is reading

Who was your favorite character and why?

Abby is my favorite character because she tries to right the wrongs done by her family instead of ignoring them or running away from them.

Excellent audio!

I loved this Audible book. Mounting Evidence is a great continuation of the series. Great combination of team work, friendship, love and intrigue. Great narration by Hollis Elizabeth.
