You Have the Power to Transform Your Life

Once upon a time, a guru was giving a discourse on a mountain.

During the discourse, one of the disciples inquired if the rocks were the strongest entity in the universe.

The Guru replied, "No, because iron can break it into pieces."

Then the disciple asked, "That means iron is the strongest!"

The Guru said, "No, the fire can melt the iron; water can defeat the fire, and water, in turn, can be defeated by air. Yet, air is also not the most powerful among them."

"Then what is the strongest entity among all?" asked the disciple.

Now, the Guru's response not only satisfied the disciple, but also opened the door to a profound wisdom with the power to transform a life.

The meaning of ‘Jitendriya’

In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna uses the term ‘Jitendriya’—someone who is victorious over the senses. Now people think the term ‘Jitendriya’ denotes suppression and is about putting force on the senses. However, this is incorrect. Its real meaning is entirely different.

What will I get by doing selfless service?

Everyone wants results before performing any action. No one wants to help others without any expectations. People think about what I will receive if I act without any self-interest. Lord Krishna gave the practical answer to this question

अक्सर मनुष्य अपना सारा जीवन अपने मन के अनुसार कार्य करने में व्यतीत करता है। वो सोचता है मन ही राजा है पर असल में मन भिखारी है जिसे कभी तृप्ति नहीं मिलती। ये मनुष्य से तरह तरह की यात्रायें कराता है। ढेर सारा अच्छा भोजन करके जब तृप्ति नहीं मिलती तो  ये मन उपवास शुरू करा देता है। जब धन से तृप्ति नहीं मिलती, त्याग शुरू करा देता है। एक संसारी व्यक्ति इस मन के भ्रमजाल में ही फस के रह जाता है। आखिर इस मन की दुविधा और इसके भ्रमजाल से मुक्ति का मार्ग क्या है और अगर मन भिखारी है तो सम्राट कौन है?

हर मनुष्य के लिए अपने संतुलन में एक योगी की तरह स्थिर होना आवश्यक हैअन्यथा जीवन में सुख व आनंद की अनुभूति नहीं हो पाती। भगवान बुद्ध ने अपने दर्शन में सम्यक योग की बात की है जिसे स्वर्ण मार्ग या मध्यम मार्ग कहा गया है। भगवान कृष्ण ने भी गीता में नासाग्र दृष्टि की बात की है जहाँ मन को टिकाने पर जोर दिया है। तो क्यों आवश्यक है समता को धारण करना और क्यों किसी भी वस्तु या भाव की अति से मनुष्य को बचना चाहिए?
