What Matters Most

Dr. Diana Hill #827

Listen Later

This is just a beautiful exchange with Dr. Diana Hill on a wide range of subjects as she brings so much wisdom and presence to the moment.

Dr. Hill is a clinical psychologist, fellow podcaster, and expert in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a cutting-edge, evidence-based form of psychotherapy that helps people develop psychological flexibility. We also talk about her wonderful new book, ACT Daily Journal: Get unstuck and live fully with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

As we continue to deal with the fall out of the pandemic, many of us are in the process of rebuilding and re-entry to our lives. Diana Hill teaches us about the importance of being psychologically flexible as we deal with what some experts are referring to as a “second pandemic” of depression, anxiety, and PTSD. It turns out that psychological flexibility is one of the best predictors of physical and mental health. There are currently over 400 RCTs (randomized control trials) on ACT and thousands of research studies demonstrating its benefits for stress, anxiety, performance, relationships, and healthy living. The benefits of psychological flexibility are far-reaching for individuals, families, communities, and organizations alike.

Diana's new book, ACT Daily Journal: Get Unstuck and Live Fully with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, came out on May 1st, 2021 (May is also Mental Health Month). Act Daily Journal breaks psychological flexibility into an 8-week program that helps people become present, identify their values, and take committed action in the direction of what matters most to them.
