The Combine is coming up and soon after is free agency- so lets look at some teams and what they may want to do going into the offseason

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers might be moving on from Jameis Winston and since they have no QB- they a ton of cap- around $84,989,175. The problem? They need a quarterback- former #LAChargers Phillip Rivers maybe? They also are potentially losing a bunch of D-linemen to free agency including Edges Shaq Barrett, Jason Pierre Paul, Carl Nassib, Defensive Tackle Ndamakong Suh, wide receiver Breshad Perrimen, and offensive tackle Demar Dotson.  

The Houson Texans might’ve traded away a bunch of picks and have no first rounder in the upcoming NFL Draft- but the also made Bill O’Brian their General Manager… so all is great right? To be fair this team still has a decent amount of picks in the upcoming draft- just none in the first round this year.They are also walking into free agency with about 56,538,061- they just released cornerback Vernon Hargreaves to avoid a 10 million cap hit with his option (claimed off waivers last year)- maybe they bring him back on a cheaper deal?  

If they want more money they can release Kenny Stills andDuke johnson- but without Duke, they won’t have anyone to play runningback on the roster, as Lamar Miller and Carlos Hyde are free agents going into this year. Also, Conrerbacks Bradley Roby and Johnathan Joseph, as well as Tight end Darren fells & kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn are upcoming free agents. See who we think they should resign! Also, we give a list of Potential targets that may include CB Logan Ryan, CB Chris Harris, DT Michael Brockers and T Vaitai

So on to 2020!!! First off neither of these teams have alot of money to spend going into the offseason and each has its own set of players walking into free agency.

Right off the bat. Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs- Andy Reid gets his first Super Bowl after over 20 years of coaching. Now, they need to make moves to stay competitive and make their way back. Yes, the AFC is the easier conference and the AFC West is lacking in competitiveness. But the KC Chiefs only have around 20,000,000.00 (20 million folks) in cap space going into free agency. And they have significant players potentially walking in free agency- including Defensive Lineman Chris Jones, Cornerbacks Morris Claiborne, Kendall Fuller and Breshad Breeland. Sammy Watkins can be a potential cut in free agency releaving some cap space- while also potentially leaving some dead cap behind. Can’t keep everyone- also, the time-clock is ticking on paying star quarterback Patrick Mahomes! Good thing the Chiefs have all their draft picks for the first five rounds in the 2020 draft- which is more than I could say for the San Francisco 49ers

Speaking of...now- what about the niners and their hopes for 2020? San Francisco has a similar cap situation going into 2020- with an estimated 20 million in cap. They don’t have as many star players leaving- with Defensive lineman Arik Armstead (who lead the Dline in sacks in 2019) and mid season acquisition receiver Emmanuel Sanders (who the 49ers traded a 3rd and 4th rd pick) being the biggest names able to walk in free agency. Sanders is the more likely of the two to return as his contract will probably be in the low teens- while Armstead will require a multi year deal. Since the Niners D-line will still include Rookie Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa, Dee Ford and Deforest Buckner- I think they have the depth to at least potentially withstand Armstead leaving. Kyle Juscyck is also potentially leaving as the team has an option on him in 2020. Two major defensive backs potentially leaving include Safety Jimmie Ward (who came back on a 1 year deal and can potentially return a similar way) and CB Emmaul Mosely. Still, although the 49ers are in a tough division in the NFC West- there is very little that makes us think they won’t be competitive in 2020.

The Superbowl is here and today we are talking about one of last year’s Superbowl teams and the team with the number 1 overall pick in the draft.

Rams have little money to start with - with an estimated $19,546,864 in free cap. They also have a major problem in that they can’t really clear up their cut with easy cuts.They can get some marginal savings from cutting, Nickell Robey-Coleman CB-clearing $4,500,000, Eric Weddle FS ($500,001 dead cap) clearing $4,250,525 and Clay Matthews, OLB,  ($2,000,000 cap ) getting about $3,750,00 in savings

The Rams also save a bunch of  players potentially leaving in free agency- including Dante Fowler Jr., Andrew Whitworth LT, Michael Brockers DT, Cory Littleton ILB, and Greg Zuerlein the Kicker. They also don’t have a first round pick in the NFL draft for the next two years (2020 and 2021 NFL Drafts). Also does Whitworth retire? Can they fix the o-line that made their team take a step back? 

One thing is clear the Rams need to fix the offensive line, they have some major players departing and they are crushed under the cap. They could also use some cornerback depth and maybe some pashrush? Its a mess with the Rams- hopefully they figure out a way to get some relief or McVey is gonna lose the clout he’s built the last few years.

The Cincinnati Bengals are returning with Zac Taylor who went 2-14 in his first year. They have an Est. $48,029,642  in free cap. That's decent but keep in mind the Bengals tend to be cheap. 

They can clear some cap by moving on from Quarterback Andy Dalton which saves $17,700,000, Left Tackle Cordy Glenn, saving $9,500,000, and strong safety Shawn Williams ($400,000 in dead cap ) $4,085,000 in savings.

Some guys potentially leaving for free agency- A.J. Green, Darqueze Dennard CB, Tyler Eifert TE, John Jerry G, Nick Vigil OLB, Andrew Billings DT, and RFA Guard Alex Redmond. This team needs DT, O-line, playmakers and they can’t afford to be losing too much of the talent they have.

Good News! They do have all their picks in the 2020 NFL draft this year- and top off each round and the draft  with the number 1 overall pick. Clearly Joe Burrow is the top player in conversation for the number 1 overall pick. There’s been some rumors with interest in Justing Herbet as well and Chase young always has to be in consideration.  Maybe a major trade will happen? For the number 1 pick? For Andy Dalton?

Now that the coaching carousel has come to a close- we break down what assets the Broncos and Lions have.

Broncos finally have some money to spend with $60,367,518 (spotrac) to $61,947,764 (overthecap) in free cap. They can clear up some more cap with some of the following cuts- Joe Flacco clears 10 million (13 million dead cap) and Jeff Heuerman which clears 3.8. They can also not pick up Ronald Leary'sTeam option. 2020 Option year must be exercised 5 days after 2019 thru 2020 league year. This would lead to8 Million savings and there is only 1.5 million guaranteed if opt. exercised.

Broncos also ave some potential players leaving in free agency- including Chris Harris, DT Derek Wolf, Shelby Harris DT, Justin Simmons S and Connor McGovern center. Odds are the aging star corner Harris walks, while they tag super safety Simmons. Maybe the Broncos resign one Defensive Tackle but probably not both. Resiging McGovern would give the Broncos consistency at O-line- if not they'd be onto their third center in 3 years (Matt Paradis left last year for carolina). Top potential free agent we see them going after- Dallas Cowboys Byron Jones- fits Vic Vangio's scheme.

Broncos can use a new left tackle (Bolles ain't cutting it) as well as some offensive weaponry for Drew Lock. Maybe a wide receiver like Henry Ruggs or a Running back like Deandre Swift. They also may want to load up at corner.

One thing is clear the Broncos look like they are potentially alot more put together then some thought at the beginning of the year. They have some offensive staff changes with Scangarello being discharged and the hiring of Pat Shurmur as Offensive Coordinator (Shula as QBs coach). 2020 looks good for the Broncos- too bad they can't change divisions.

The Detroit Lions and Matt Patricia have about $43,209,388 (spotrac) to $48,748,295 (over the cap) in cap space. That's not alot by most standards. The good news is- alot of their woes last year were due to injuries (and some deficiencies on defense) and alot of their top contributors are already locked up for 2020. The top 2 free agents leaving are Danny Amendola, Guard Graham Glasgow and Mike McDaniels. I can see them resigning Glasgow and Danny cut on a dime for a small deal. Biggest ourside free agent we see them signing- New England's Kyle Van Noy.

They can cut some guys (but again most have been helpful to an extent. Biggest contracts that you can clear are contributors. Biggest contract -Darius Slay and Ricky Wagner. Can get 20 million in relief if they cut Damon Harrison (snacks) (5 million dead cap- 6.7 savings), Marvin Jones - $2.6 mill dead cap (6.5 mill savings), Devon Kinard - 1.7 dead, 5.4 mill savings and Romeo Okwara.

I don't see any big free agency moves- instead the draft is gonna be big for the lions- with a top 3 pick- Lions have a shot at a BLUE CHIP PLAYER or they can trade back and accumulate assets. Maybe a Jeffrey Okudah? Derrick Brown? or swiss army knife Isaiah Simmons. Or do they replace the Matt Stafford and get a QB?

Either way- there's been high turnover on that coaching staff (over 10 asistants)- this might be att Patricia's last chance!

Jets have some money to spend with $65,319,472 in free cap. They can clear up some cap with some of the following cuts Trumaine johnson ($12,000,000 dead cap) 3 million savings, Avery Williamson (6.5 million in savings), Quincy enunwa (5.4 mill dead cap, 2 million savings), Brian winters (7.2 million) and Josh Bellamy (1.3 million savings). Jets also ave some potential players leaving in free agency- including Alex lewis, Brian Poole, Robby Anderson and Kelvin Beachum. Are these players worth resigning? Some free agents to look at Connor McGovern, Matt Skurra, Branden Scherff, joe thuney, stefan wisnewski, joe haeg, Ted karrad, Rt marvus gilbert, Rt jack conklin, matt fieler.

One thing is clear the jets need to fix the offensive line, gets some offensive weapons for Sam Darnold, they need some cornerback depth and maybe some pashrush? Its a mess with the Jets

The Washington Redskins have a new coach in Ron Rivera and an Est. 39.7 million in free cap. That's not alot. They can clear some cap by moving some of the following playersTrent Williams (12.5 million savings), Josh Norman (12.5 million savings), Jordan Reed (8.5 million in savings) and Adrian Peterson (2.25 million). Some guys potentially leaving for free agency- Guard Brandon Scherff, TE Vernon Davis, RB Chris Thompson and Tackle Donald Penn. They do have the second pick in the draft (probably, to be used on Ohio State Passrusher Chase Young)- but they are missing a second rounder. Biggest needs? Defensive backs, fix the o-line (either get Trent to come back or trade him) and get Haskins or Alex Smith some weapons outside of Terry McLaurin.
