With a loose theme of LGBTQ+ Greek tales, the gang discusses 2 short myths: the origins of Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, plus the origins of the hyacinth flower. A fed up Cletus declares war on Zeus. Miles promotes a 90s TV series. And Ella bravely defeats her most dreaded foe: the hiccups.
And be sure to check Instagram/Facebook for an original cocktail recipe!
Ella pours a themed cocktail—i.e. White Russians—while diving into the Russian fairytale "Go I Not Whither, Fetch I Do Not Know." Take a seat with the gang as they linger on facts and events, feature too many quotes, get lost in confusing accents, and learn how to prevent milk from spoiling. And never trust the guys when they tell you to google something.
The gang switches things up for a special dedication episode. Join the guys as they try to guess the origins and (often dark) meaning behind six different nursery rhymes. Can they get a single one right? Eh, the odds are against them, but luckily Ella can set the record straight.
Hint: Nothing is ever as it seems.
Ella presents a character from West African folktales. Meet the spider Anansi, a charming trickster and king of all stories, played by Cletus. Meanwhile, Miles takes on four different acting roles with extra script shenanigans. The gang also learns that not everyone is cut out for muddling mint, so maybe just stick to 1792 on the rocks if you get thirsty.
Join the gang as they finally discuss dragon lore. We've got historical background. We've got origin stories. We've even got inspiring tales. Bonus lessons: Ella is always right. But also she is filled with deep, deep regret. Go Sky Daddies.
(Oh, and pour yourself some Islay Single Malt Scotch to switch things up this week.)
Ella abuses her podcast platform so she can trash talk Cinderella for being a terrible role model. The trio is fully reunited this week to explore an Irish fairytale, where they'll swap out pumpkin carriages for magic mares and talking vermin for hungry whales. Can we find a healthy relationship hidden amongst folklore's oral traditions? Probably not, but at least we can judge what we don't understand. Pour some Restoration Rye to join the fun!
Join Miles and Ella as they struggle to uncover a sense of decency within the Greek mythology dating scene. Family dynamics get even messier this week, with a smattering of trickery, crime, and human suffering thrown in for good measure. Try to find the humor in it all with an assist from Giggle Water, the random cocktail of choice for this particular tale.
Think happy thoughts with Cletus and Ella to summon the voice of the missing Miles while Ella shares the revenge-ridden tales of creation, Aztec style. We even get a little bit mushy—just in time for the new year. Pour some Larceny bourbon to drink and join us at our table!
The trio explores the timeless lessons within the Arthurian tale of the Questing Beast, complete with dated pop culture references. Even Aurpher joins the protests against incest, school spirit, bad jokes, and scary monsters. Don't forget to top off your whiskey tumbler before you take a seat with the gang!
Meet Ella, Cletus, and Miles in the very first episode of Dragons Drink Bourbon! Ella shares the story of the Death of Baldur just in time for the warm and fuzzy holiday season. Meanwhile, Aurpher (the most handsome dog) expresses his excitement by barking the gods away. So pour a glass, take a seat in our audio tavern, and join the fun!
