  • Episode 30 - Resolutions, Updates, and DAC "Lore"...

Steph and Cam have returned! Cam got these new lapel mics and it turns out…they’re, uh…NOT GREAT. So, apologies for the poor audio quality! They’ll go back to their old, much better-sounding mics next time—promise!

In this episode, Steph and Cam discuss resolutions, both personal and for the podcast, what went down on the several-week-long break and bid a fond farewell to fake commercials. At least…for now. After the break, they dig into just why it is Steph has a distaste for Jackson Pollock. Also, Cam reveals there’s an artist's work they’re not so fond of either. Who could it be? WHO KNOWS?! Guess you’ll just have to listen to find out!

  • Episode 29: Natural Talent vs Hard Work
After a week off, Steph and Cam are back to discuss the idea of an artist having natural talent vs working hard to get where they want to be. They talk a bit about how what kind of life you’re born into plays a role, whether they think people can be born with skill, what happens if you’ve got the talent but no drive and vise-versa, and…for some reason…they also talk about basketball for a second. Oh! And this amazing mashup: youtu.be/oD6QpMSEACo

  • Episode 28: Fictional Artists of the 90's
…Well…mostly the 90’s. Steph and Cam talk about a list of fictional characters that were either artists or just undeniably creative. Just a few “people” on the list include: Judy Funny (Doug), Jane Lane (Daria), Ricky Fitts (American Beauty), Enid (Ghost World), and a bunch more!
Steph and Cam are probably more tired than drunk in this one, yet they still ask those burning questions! What do these characters have in common? What makes them stand apart? Why…are they mostly from the 90’s?? What does it all mean??!?!

  • Episode 26: So Ya Wanna Work in (Art) Retail?
Combined, Steph and Cam have a little over a decade’s worth of experience working in that somewhat niche sector of retail: The Art Supply Store (TM)! So they wanted to talk about, not only their personal experiences with the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of this life…but they wanted to set a few expectations for anyone considering working in an art store. Overall, they think you should go for it if you want to…just…ya know, get ready to wear a lot of hats. Mostly cool hats. But some hats you don’t get paid enough to wear, too. So…there’s that.
They know it’s a long one…but stick around till the end to hear about their multiple celebrity sightings had while being art store employees!

  • Episode 24: Take That All the Way to The Banksy! Featuring Paul Myers!
Seal-based ASMR. A pile of melted Toblerones. Gelli plate fanatics. You may ask us…what, PRAY TELL, does all of this have to do with Banksy??? And we will tell you.
Nothing; it all has not a thing to do with Banksy. So…do these topics get spoken about in this episode about Banksy? You bet’chur bottom. But don’t worry…we do in fact talk about the whole Banksy shredding the artwork at the auction thing. And joining us this time around is Paul Myers (https://www.instagram.com/paultmyers) ! Listen to us chat about stuff like: what was the message there? If money was no object, would we buy a damaged piece from our favorite artist? Or what about our own artwork? Could we destroy it to make a statement?

  • Episode 23: On Race and Art. Featuring Emil Brewer!
Steph and Cam are joined by special guest, Emil Brewer (http://instagram.com/lime4ever)! The three discuss that big idea of how race plays into art. Emil shares some of his background around finding his love of art in high school, and the group talks about the ways people of color find themselves becoming their own resources to help each other nourish the things they love. They discuss how white spaces that house art can tend to look at works by people of color and other marginalized groups as “niche”. Is art that is made *of* people of color *by* white people considered not “niche” and more “valuable”? Is there a way that white folks can just…do better?
And yes, the episode does touch on serious topics, but we do have a chuckle or two. You may even hear about something that reveals just how white Cam is when they admit they might be a *little* interested in the idea of an art show centered around paintings of Lassie (yes the dog).
