On this edition of Century: Harm Reduction and Social Development. The

United Nations Second World Summit for Social Development took place

November 4-6. One of the side events in the pre-summit activities on

November 3, hosted by Harm Reduction International and the Open

Society Foundation, was entitled Harm Reduction for Social

Development: Strengthening Health, Workability, and Inclusion. We hear

a presentation by Catherine Cook, Acting Executive Director of Harm

Reduction International. Plus, the UN\'s Office of the High

Commissioner for Human Rights has condemned US missile strikes on

vessels in the Caribbean and Pacific, which have killed at least 64

people so far, as violations of international human rights law. Ravina

Shamdasani, Chief Spokesperson for the OHCHR, announced the statement

and answered questions from the media at a news conference in Geneva

on October 31.
