DTVC Podcast

Ty from Comeuppance Reviews is back for his monthly spot on the pod, this time we're featuring two films, from Aaron Eckhart, "Classified" and "Rumble Through the Dark." For our first one, we're looking at an Eckhart espionage actioner co-starring Abigail Breslin. Then for our second one, Eckhart gets down and dirty as an underground fighter in Mississippi, with his young co-star this time played by Bella Thorne. Finally, our spotlight on a fight looks at the end fight between Jet Li and Jet Li in "The One."

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some weeks in addition to the main podcast. In this episode I'm looking at Fox's Mutant Movies. In the first part I do some background on the X-Men comics, then get into the lead-up to the first film, the two after it, and the debacle that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine. In the second part, we get stuck in on the films they made after that that were released before Disney bought 20th Century Fox, where they had some real hits, where they had misses, and what contributed to each. Finally, I look at the final two Fox X-films that were released after the purchase, plus the legacy of the films, "Deadpool and Wolverine," and my ideas on how Disney should've been integrating the X-characters all along--but before that, I do a mea culpa on a couple things I said about Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 before I'd seen it.

Scott Murphy from All 90s Action, All the Time and New Horror Express is back to discuss another Steven Seagal DTV flick, this time "Into the Sun." It's Seagal in Japan, master swordsman, best agent in the CIA, expert on the Yakuza--all sounds about right, right?

In this episode I'm joined once again by Chris "The Brain" Kacvinsky from Bulletproof Action, and this time we're looking at the Isaac Florentine flick "Cold Harvest," starring Gary Daniels, Bryan Genesse, and Barbara Crampton. How does Daniels do playing two parts? Who does Genesse's beard? And ultimately, does it all just come down to finding a place where you can get a decent pastrami sandwich?

In this episode I'm joined once again by Jeanette Ward from The Mundane Adventures of a Fangirl, to discuss the Cannon classic, "American Ninja 4". Before that, we have a discussion on the two most recent MCU films, and look at the state of comic book movies as we go into the summer with "Superman" and "Fantastic Four". Then we get stuck in on "American Ninja 4," starting with the fact that we get no Dudikoff until the 45th minute! We also have colorful ninjas again, a Mad Max-ish gang, and some guy getting burned alive because Dudikoff is taking his sweet time rescuing everyone.

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some weeks in addition to the main podcast. In this episode I finish my look at 90s Nicolas Cage action movies with "Face/Off" and "Snake Eyes". In the first part I look at "Face/Off," and how I didn't want to watch it initially, but what I appreciate about it now. Then in the second part, we get stuck in on "Snake Eyes," how it was marketed is as an action movie, and how that might have affected it's box office. Finally, I do a bonus segment on "Captain America: Brave New World".

Ty from Comeuppance Reviews is back for his monthly spot on the pod, this time we're featuring two films, "Armor" and "Aftermath." For our first one, we're looking at a Randall Scandal starring Sly Stallone. How did Stallone get here? And does the film work? Then for our second one, it's our first time looking at a Netflix movie, this one starring Dylan Sprouse. Did it do any better than the Sly Randall Scandal? Finally, our spotlight on a fight looks at the end fight between JCVD, Dennis Rodman, and Mickey Rourke in "Double Team."

In this episode I'm joined once again by Will from Exploding Helicopter, as we look at two films with Scott Adkins. First we look at "Take Cover," a sniper slog also starring Alice Eve. What happened with this one? How did it go wrong? And then for the second film, we look at "Accident Man: Hitman's Holiday," where Adkins picks up where the previous entry left off. Beyond the fun time that the movie was, Will helps us out with some of the inside British humor we may not have gotten.

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some weeks in addition to the main podcast. In this episode I start my look at 90s Nicolas Cage action movies with "The Rock" and "Con Air". In the first half I look at "The Rock," and how it established Cage as an action lead. I also talked about why I thought it was so good--and why I didn't watch it when it first came out. Then in the second half, we get stuck in on "Con Air," why I liked that too, but also why I didn't watch it initially, and why when I finally did, I wasn't impressed.

Scott Murphy from All 90s Action, All the Time and New Horror Express is back to discuss another Steven Seagal DTV flick, this time "Belly of the Beast." Directed by Hong Kong legend Siu-Tung Ching, there are elements that are worthy of his status in this--and there are elements that are worthy of Seagal's status too, if you know what I mean. It's still got all the bonkers you want from a Seagal DTV film.
