"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some weeks in addition to the main podcast. In this episode I'm looking at the two latest entries in the Predator franchise, "Killer of Killers" and "Badlands". With the first one, I get into what I like, and what I don't like--and what I don't like is rather prodigious, enough for me to go on a rant. After a break I get into the newest film, "Badlands," which I liked better. If that's the case, where does it rank on my all-time Predator movie list? And then given what happens in "Killer of Killers," I don't have the highest expectations for what's next.
To hear my thoughts on the previous entries in the series, it's DTVC Extra episodes 21, 22, and 23 from back in April of 2024.

We're joined this week by screenwriter Richard Pierce, as we look at the Don "The Dragon" Wilson classic "Capitol Conspiracy." Before that we start by discussing Rich's time working with Olivier Gruner on "Sector 4: Extraction," and the process of screenwriting for Lifetime and Tubi Originals. After a break we get stuck in on the film, looking what works, why it's a fun time, and how Wilson is as an action lead.
Rich's latest film "The Prep School Disappearance" is currently available to stream free on Xfinity, or to rent on Prime.

We're joined once again by Mitch from the Video Vacuum as we celebrate Dolph Lundgren's birthday week with a look at 2007's "Missionary Man." We jump right in and get after it, discussing all the things that work, including some happy accidents that added to the film's vibe. We also get into the current experience of going to the movies, and why retro screenings are often a better bet than gambling on something new. Finally, we talk about the newest offering from WAVE Productions, "The Women Killers," and discuss the levels of bad movie watching.

In this episode I'm joined by Freddie Young from Full Moon Reviews for our Halloween episode as we look at the action/horror classic "Maniac Cop". Before that though, we talked about 2025 in film so far, especially the experience of seeing films in the theater, and which of the major studios came out winners and losers. Then with "Maniac Cop," we get stuck in on some of the elements around policing that this touches on, and how relevant they still are today; also the imagery of the Twin Towers in a film and what that means. Finally, we look at some of the movie's highlights and our favorite moments.

Scott Murphy from All 90s Action, All the Time and New Horror Express is back to discuss another Steven Seagal DTV flick, this time "Today You Die." Seagal as some kind of Robin Hood ends up caught up in some armored car heist and finds himself in prison. Luckily Treach takes a liking to him and helps him get out, now he just needs to get revenge on the baddies and make off with the cash. Do we at least get Seagal doing a poor sounding, racially appropriative accent? Absolutely.

Ty from Comeuppance Reviews is back for his monthly spot on the pod, but this time as we're continuing our "On the Skids" series, we thought "on the skids" wasn't strong enough for Mickey Rourke, so we're going with "to Oblivion." The two DTV Rourke films are, "Jade" with Shaina West and Mark Dacascos, and "Hunt Club" with Mena Suvari and Casper Van Dien. The thing is, both of these have a level of polish and earnestness that put them a bit above the usual Rourke DTV fare--but does that mean we enjoyed them? And then our spotlight on a fight looks at the end fight in Angelina Jolie's "Tomb Raider."

We're joined once again by Jon Cross from the PM Entertainment Podcast and the After Movie Diner, this time to discuss a Jack Scalia erotic thriller double feature, with "Deadly Desire" and "Illicit Behavior." With "Deadly Desire," we try to make sense of this man from the 70s trying to make it work in the 90s; plus an interesting looking porcelain snail cactus holder. After a break, we get stuck in on "Illicit Behavior," an erotic thriller co-starring Joan Severance and Robert Davi. This one misses more than the previous one, and we get into why that is.

In this episode I'm joined once again by Jeanette Ward from The Mundane Adventures of a Fangirl, this time to discuss a Michael Jai White double feature with "Black Dynamite" and "Outlaw Johnny Black." We start with what we like about Michael Jai White, and how his talents translate so well to the movie screen. Then with "Black Dynamite" we talked about how that movie works on so many levels; and with "Outlaw Johnny Black," how that one unfortunately missed in places "Black Dynamite" didn't.

In this episode Sean Malloy of "I Must Break This Podcast" is back, and we're discussing another Van Damme DTV flick, 2003's "In Hell." We look at Van Damme's collaborations with Ringo Lam, and how this was different from a lot of other films Van Damme had done. We also discuss what the DTV world was like back in 2003, and how a film like this could compete with big blockbusters like X2 in the video store.

Ty from Comeuppance Reviews is back for his monthly spot on the pod, this time we're continuing our "On the Skids" series with our first Oscar winner, Morgan Freeman. The two DTV Freeman films are, "57 Seconds" with Josh Hutcherson, and "Gunner" with Luke Hemsworth. Are they skids enough for Morgy? And then our spotlight on a fight looks at the end fight between Dolph and Cary Tagawa in "Showdown in Little Tokyo."
