China is to unveil a reform plan on the college entrance examination, considering two separate test modes for technical and academic students.

One mode is targeting technically inclined students such as those who want to be engineers, senior mechanic and high-quality laborers. It will assess the candidates' technical skills and textbook knowledge as a combination.

The other mode is the current practice throughout the country which tests only textbook knowledge. It applies to the academically inclined students.

The Education Ministry didn't reveal exactly when the plan will take effect.

Under the current system, potential college-goers choose their majors after they pass the state college entrance examination, or gaokao. The ministry explains this may thwart the higher education chances of those who are especially talented in certain areas but not good at taking exams.

China faces a dilemma that on the one hand, college graduates have difficulty finding jobs, and on the other, the country has a shortage of technical talents in the labor force buildup.

Under a pilot program, 14 million students entered higher education institutes through the first technique-focused mode last year.

About 17 million high school and college graduates are added into China's labor market every year.

A field survey of wild Siberian tigers and leopards in northeast China has shown their populations recovering.

The survey was carried out over a year by the Cat Research Center of the State Forestry Bureau of China, in cooperation with the World Wildlife Fund, and local forestry authorities in Northeast China.

During the survey, researchers repaired more than 200 automatic monitoring cameras in forest reserves where the big cats are found.

It's estimated there are over 30 tigers and leopards in the mountain regions and most of the big cats in the video images appeared to be healthy.

Siberian tiger is also known as Amur or Manchurian tiger. Worldwide, almost 500 Siberian tigers are believed to survive in the wild, and most of them lives in Russia.

The world population of Amur leopard is less than 60. The species was on the verge of extinction in northeast China as a result of poaching and deforestation.

In recent years, public awareness of wildlife protection has gradually increased thanks to the local governments' preservation efforts.

Jilin Province has planned to expand its Siberian tiger nature reserve to protect the natural environment.

U.S. intelligence departments hacked into the email servers of Chinese tech giant Huawei five years ago. That was around the time when concerns were growing in Washington that the telecommunications equipment manufacturer was a threat to U.S. national security.

The U.S. National Security Agency began targeting Huawei in early 2009 and quickly succeeded in gaining access to the company's client lists and email archive.

The New York Times and a German weekly have reported the event, citing secret U.S. intelligence documents leaked by former contractor of the agency Edward Snowden.

Huawei's vice president of external affairs William Plummer says Huawei objects to activities that threaten network security.

Plummer says the event reaffirms the need for all companies to be vigilant at all times.

The U.S. National Security Agency has rejected the claim.

Great Britain will support the United States over the U.S. decision to transfer its control of the internet's domain name system into a "multi-stakeholder" process.

The U.S. government announced earlier it planned to relinquish its control of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers that manages domain names for the Internet.

The U.S. government has asked the corporation to develop a plan for the transition to a multi-stakeholder process.

The corporation has managed and coordinated the Internet's address system since 1998, pursuant to a contract from the U.S. government that expires in September next year.

A British communications official says the time is right to move towards transferring responsibility for the internet's domain name system into an open and transparent multi-stakeholder process.

The corporation will hold its 50th public meeting of global stakeholders in London in June this year.

People with genes that make them at a higher risk of obesity are twice as likely to gain weight from eating fried food as those with a lower genetic risk.

It is a known fact that genes play an important role in peoples' weight gain and figures.

The study shows evidence of how the genetic makeup interacts with diets to determine the risk of putting on weight.

Researchers at Harvard University in the United States analyzed data of food consumption from 37,000 men and women.

They found that those in the most genetic risk were twice likely to be obese if they ate fried food four times a week compared to those with lowest risk.

The results show that the genetic background and consumption of fried food moderate each other's effect on obesity.

The findings emphasize the importance of reducing fried food consumption in the prevention of obesity, particularly in individuals genetically predisposed to adiposity.

It's difficult for people to reduce their consumption of delicious food. Fried food is really delicious. But, remember, it's harmful.
