  • Dulcinea Day 3 (English)

    Hello again my friends!

This is Dulcinea bringing you positive messages through classic poetry and sometimes new poetry by myself and our special guests. I want to remind you that this space is created specially for you and if you would like to talk about a specific poem or poet please leave a comment and or send me your inquiries at: [email protected]

Today I want to make a confession: I was sick a few days ago and the doctor ordered me to be isolated. During my isolation I started to think about Life and it's weird things. I learned that there are over 7 billion people on this planet and despite the fact that we are that many; statistics show that nowadays there are more single people than married or in a committed relationship.

Why? Maybe you are asking yourselves the same question, unfortunately I don't have an answer. I don’t know if it’s because lately we all live in a rush, or maybe because we are in the era of super-novelty brought to us directly into our smartphones, tablets, computers and TV. Is that making us get bored faster? People from all genders complain of the difficulties they have in finding someone willing to get in a committed relationship.

Women blame men, and men blame women, Men said that women are not like they used to be, before; women used to dedicate themselves one hundred percent to run the house, raise the children and generally be available and happy to receive their men whenever they came back home from work. But now women also want to succeed professionally too, they either want to start or run their own business, or some of them focus on climbing the corporate ladder and achieve that high paying job with benefits, there are also the ones that want to travel the world before having children and all these ambitions are valid, even though sometimes are not compatible with the idea of having a solid relationship, because like the old saying goes: “He who serves two masters, with one looks bad”    Women complain that nowadays is easier for men to cheat and deceive since the openness of the internet brings several ways to meet new people, it is worth mentioning that a lot of people blame social media channels for divorce and breakups, there are even those who consider a famous social media channel the perfect way to facilitate infidelity.

Whatever the factor that influences shooing cupid from our lives, let's be realistic and understand that we are social beings by nature and we need to love and be loved to feel complete.

Although communication is now more open, and we have access to more means of conversation online, why do people struggle more to establish contact in person?  It recently happened to me to be in line at a supermarket near where I live, a very attractive girl between the ages of 25 and 30 was in front of me, and she offered me to walk in front of her because I only had a pack of coffee in my hands. and she had a little over 10 things in her cart. (we were in the express check-out) I said thank you and paid for my coffee, on the way to the door I couldn’t help but heard two young men between 20 and 25 years old, jokingly blaming each other for not having the guts to ask the girl for  her  number, the irony, they were trying to make contact with her, and she very kindly made contact with me without me even asking.

Perhaps it is better to be spontaneous and not think so much when we want to establish communication with someone we are interested in, a simple hello! And a sincere smile could work a little magic, there is nothing wrong if they do not return your greeting or smile, the important thing is to do it in a genuine gesture of friendship without pretending or expecting something in return.

Today Poem is "She Walks in Beauty" by George Gordon Byron. I hope you like it.

    Ciao!

  • Dulcinea’s Love Poems Day 2 (English)

    Hello again my friends!

This is Dulcinea again with positive messages through classic poetry and sometimes new poetry by myself and guests. As always a million thanks from the bottom of my heart for listening today and tomorrow, it means the world to me that you would spare a few minutes of your time listening to this podcast, and if you like it by all means please share it, let’s keep spreading care and bring Universal Love to every single person out there.

I hope you excuse my accent and mispronunciation. I am a beginner in this podcasting thing, but I am a veteran at positive thinking, good energy, feelings of good vibes and self-love. Like I said in the first episode, I won’t talk about anything else but Self-Love, Love for animals,  love for every human being and Love for this awesome Planet that we call “home”

I am sitting here in my living room, after a 2 hour hike from Mt. Diablo, if you are from California, you know where Mt. Diablo is, but for those of you who have never been; it’s located in the East Bay part of our beautiful San Francisco Bay. The weather is not as hot as I expected, I am sipping coffee, sitting on the staircase, and I can’t help but feel deep gratitude. For being where I am, even with the little I have, because I’m privileged to live another day and with that another set of opportunities to achieve health and with the strongest intention to keep it that way.

While I was hiking I was listening to a podcast talking about motivation, and what I have found out at this stage of my life is that it doesn’t matter how many motivational speeches you get to listen to, the most important part is WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?

When you find your motivation, then you create a routine, then your routine teaches you the discipline you need to keep doing what you need to do in order to get to where you want to be, and when you have that machine working all together is when you achieve whatever it is that you planned to get. So my poem for today is more of a push than a poem, or a motivational poem if you want to call it like that. I started writing it back in early 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. It's more a self-talk and I wrote it at a time when I was looking for answers and I have no shame to say that I felt lost. I called it contemplation, I hope you like it.

    CONTEMPLATION.

    By Erika Sandoval

Every time I see you there,

    I remember when and where,

It’s like time stopped at once

When we agreed to do this dance.

Every time I see you there,

    I remind myself my “why”

I can’t think about it now

But I’m sure it will reignite.

Every time I see you there,

    It’s like Magic all again,

It's a call deep in my heart.

That will bring me back to start.

From day 1 to day Z

I just want to laugh and eat

    And remember who we were

Every time I see you there.

I was looking at my reflection in the mirror while I was thinking about a problematic part of my life at the moment. Life is a series of blows, some blows you can block and some you can’t, the ones you can block try to soften the blow, but No matter what life throws at you, remember that you can also punch back, in my personal experience the most important part in order to get out of stagnation is take a break to take a deep breath, dust yourself, lick your wounds and keep going, because defeat is not an option.

This is what my adversary circumstances have taught me, I hope this little poem can inspire you to look once more in that mirror and remind you of that special something or someone THAT MOTIVATES YOU, your WHY will make you succeed at whatever you are looking to get out of this fun game called “Life”

    Huye luna, luna, luna.

    Si vinieran los gitanos,

    habrían con tu corazón

    collares y anillos blancos.

    Niño, déjame que baile.

    Cuando vengan los gitanos,

    te encontrarán sobre el yunque

    con los ojillos cerrados.

    Huye luna, luna, luna,

    que ya siento sus caballos.

    -Niño, déjame, no pises

  • Dulcinea's Love Poems Day 1 The Unlimited penmanship of Shakespeare! (English)
    Hello Friends!
My name is Dulcinea, the beloved enemy of Don Quixote, as always I am super happy that you allow me to be with you for at least a few minutes of your day, from the bottom of my heart a million thanks!!! If you like this podcast and if it brings a smile to your face please share with family and friends, by doing this we are spreading love and positive energy together around the world. I also want to remind you that this space is for you. If you would like to hear about an author we can request for them to be featured in a future show, we have dedicated this time to bring uplifting messages through poetry in harmony with the universe.
Today we will talk about William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet and actor. He is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's greatest dramatist. He is often called England's National Poet and the "Bard of Avon'' (or simply "the Bard"). His extensive works, including collaborations, consist of some over 39 plays, 154 sonnets, three long narrative poems, and a few other verses, some of uncertain authorship. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright. He remains arguably the most influential writer in the English language, and his works continue to be studied and reinterpreted.
William Shakespeare died in 1616 at 52 years of age. His burial in Holy Trinity Church is recorded in Stratford-upon-Avon's parish register on 25 April 1616 …
Today I am reading Love Sonnet 153
Cupid laid by his brand, and fell asleep:
A maid of Dian's this advantage found,
And his love-kindling fire did quickly steep
    In a cold valley-fountain of that ground;
Which borrow'd from this holy fire of Love
A dateless lively heat, still to endure,
And grew a seething bath, which yet men prove
Against strange maladies a sovereign cure.
But at my mistress' eye Love's brand new-fired,
    The boy for trial needs would touch my breast;
I, sick withal, the help of bath desired,
And thither hied, a sad distemper'd guest,
But found no cure: the bath for my help lies
Where Cupid got new fire--my mistress' eyes.
I love the say he describes the mischiveous ways "Cupid" makes us fall in love, I hope you find this Sonnet as interesting as I found it the best time I read it, and mostly I hope you enjoy Literature and Love Poems.
I hope you can listen tomorrow to the next episode of Dulcinea and Love Poems.  Ciao!
