  • Kaitlyn Gold ****s on the Dusty Futon

Foul-mouthed but sexy-as-hell Kaitlyn Gold looked very comfortable on the Dusty Futon during this episode. It almost looks like she's seen her fair share of futons. That's not this editor being a misogynist...she said it herself. In fact, she took ownership of all the sexism on the podcast this week. Either way, this 5'1" Golden haired minx can sing the blues in a way that'll make you feel again. With an operatic voice scarred by years of heavy smoking, and a checkered past when it comes to men, Kaitlyn Gold definitely has a story to tell...and she bares a good portion out on the Futon.

Kaitlyn's music is nothing short of blunt. She doesn't mince words when she talks about how her exes treated her and what she's gone through to get here now. And by now I mean releasing a single internationally on radio. It's awesome that the Dusty Futon found her through an interview on BackStage 30 during a Boogie Magazine event...now we get to sit down and chat about her music and story...it only took 6 months. I mentioned Kaitlyn's height for one major reason...she doesn't like to hire people shorter then her. Don't let that tough-girl look fool you, or underestimate her wit and charm. She's also hilarious! Between her not allowing chicks in her band and "Ghost Writer" Carl, who's she's know for a week but came to her rescue, the stories that come out of her mouth are ridiculous! Timmy D of Pullman Standard and Big Jon were rolling on the ground with what came out of her mouth.

  • WordSauce spills on the Dusty Futon

The guys from WordSauce, well...five of them...two stayed with their short-bus and trailer, stopped by the futon and spilled some of their sauce on it. They've had that bus for over 7 years! After paying $1000 for it I'd say it's been a pretty damn good investment. After all, as Timmy D. points out, with 7 members and at least one merch guy/girl, you would definitely need something like that. The members of this motley crew of 7 former strangers are from scattered points of Cali, but through a series of fateful twists and turns (well described in the podcast) met in this group of musicians before you now.

It's all fun and games as we learn the Metal Rockers incarnate morphed into this fusion rock band featuring a horn player (Sam on the Sax), a DJ mixing up the vinyl (Emortal), and a traditional rock ensemble (Kevin and Shawne on Guitars, Wesley on Bass, and Billy G on Drums)...then the fast talking vocalist Risko and BLAMO! You've got WORDSAUCE!

With ties to both San Diego and San Francisco, and other areas in between, these guys own California...but shine that San Diego sound. These Southern California rockers have plenty of dates up and down the coast, so there's no reason to not go see them. Check out their tunes, buy their album on bandcamp, and support these guys live by buying merch!

  • Sons of Eden Originate on the Futon

Sons of Eden may be the music of David Hermsen, but if you ask him, it's nothing without the other members. The name was decided early on, so the two women of the group, Marcia and Kristen, have adopted "Suns" of Eden (or Daughters of Eve...much cooler) to ensure their femininity isn't drowned out by the name. Both of these women are the backbeat for Sons of Eden, they comprise the rhythm section...Marcia on Bass and Kristen on the cajon. Noah, however, it the best kept secret...providing some of the most fluid solos you've heard in awhile.

The music is soulful and serene, yet still has that Rock beat to it...it's definitely rock, but with an acoustic feel. Check out the tracks we play for you in the episode and stay tuned. As soon as the episode is out, we will let you know!

  • Jon Campos and the Incurables POISON the Dusty Futon

Jon Campos formed "Jon Campos and the Incurables" in 2015 after leaving Seventrain, Drew Gino joined just to provide some backing on Jon's acoustic gigs, then they grabbed James Raub and formed this little group that's about to make waves. Wanting to stay in the Alternative Rock format, the group launched with their EP "Tragic Tales and Lullabies," and we play three of those tracks for you!

We also discover how oddly similar Jon Campos and the host Big Jon are...it's very creepy actually, you'll have to listen to find out that...and some cool insights to the album and production notes. We also learn that Kim (Jon's wife and Manager) is the most important Incurable...after all, she married him!

Tyler is still MIA and Timmy had to be a Rockstar for awhile, so Trevor steps up to bat...and hits a...well...at LEAST a triple...but Futoners, you are the ones who really decide.

  • Marujah Gets "blue" on the Futon

This crazy quintet came to us by recommendation of friend of the show, Cantua. Marujah, it's made up...sort of...so you'll have to listen for the meaning, is a crazy band with more influences than anyone I've ever met. There are five guys who come from differing musical backgrounds and combine their unique combination into a "Multicultural high energy dub stoner rock destruction," according to the San Diego Reader.

We talk about their latest album, Guerrero, and how they tend to swing political in their stylings. I like that, for the most part at least, they keep their music neutral but still maintain their message. Of course, with the political environment as tense as it is, who could blame them for chiming in with their two-cents? They also blend English and Spanish as the cross between them in many of their songs. I guess you can call that Spanglish? Nevermind...either way, they provide a "tone" that helps you to follow along and break down that language barrier.

Marujah has another album out, available on their website as well, called Dystopia 1308, and some other merch for sale. Check them out live, they are all over the place in the next few weeks...including THREE DAYS STRAIGHT of playing and touring for Enrique's birthday weekend! Oh, yeah...one other thing...at the end of the show, they perform LIVE! Enjoy the show and get out to see these guys live! They're hilarious!!!

  • Jillian Takes The Futon By Storm!

I met this young lady at an UN-birthday party put on by my friend J7, of J7 productions, and was mesmerized by her stage presence and powerful vocals. She, for reasons unbeknownst to us, agreed to sit on the futon for us. Not only did we get to chat with this talented young lady, she performed LIVE for us! We now have EXCLUSIVE content for you guys...

Jillian is on the verge of finishing her next 5-song EP, tentatively titled "Heartbreak to Hope," and plays three of those songs just for you guys! We chat about her upbringings in San Diego and Temecula and starting her vocal training at age 6 with local legend Norm Boaz, and never really looked back. She started performing at age 14, getting over those stage jitters before most of us even knew we had them!

She performs "All You Needed Was Me," "DayDream," and "Room in my Heart," and we play a snippet from a track she recorded with Bickenhall titled "Me Without You." Jillian is an accomplished performer and writer, having won Song of the month and being nominated for Song of the Year, this 22-year old performer (who doesn't know how to read sheet music) is off to an amazing career!

  • Aghori Returns to the Futon

It's been nearly a year since we had Aghori on, and guitarist Jason's brother Timmy D from Pullman Standard is our 'Guest Co-Host' for this episode. Fun Fact (as Timmy likes to put it), Jason once filled in for big bro's band once as well! It seems that there's a lot of guitar switching going on...well, that's One Theory for ya! However, we're not here to talk about old days, were here to talk albums! We played a few tracks from "Transcending the Illusion" before, so we made sure to not play the same ones again...

I picked these three songs to showcase all of the bands characteristics and ability to just knock this thrash metal thing out of the park! If you like chest-thumping double bass kicks, intense screaming, and screaming guitars, then these guys are for you. I really listened to this album a few times and realized something that has been bugging me...I couldn't quite nail it until now, but i just recently realized that Dustin (lead singer) sounds like a more badass version of Alien Ant Farm's lead Dryden Mitchell. Even from a musical perspective, the band's talent rivals that of those other metal/rock greats. The difference? About 20 years...and these guys are much harder! Buy Aghori's "Transcending the Illusion" and get ready for their new album, "Mind Operator," due out on Dustin's Birthday (possibly...BLUE DART), Mat 22nd. We play a snippet of that for you at the end of this weeks episode. Make sure NOT to miss them on March 18th, at The Merrow in San Diego.

  • Never Pass Go Monopolizes the Dusty Futon

Never Pass Go joins Big Jon and Tyler once again! This time, Kevin and Aaron brought a guest of their own...our guest's guest is Matt (Core Tracks). Matt also brought a very potent beer (which we are not allowed to mention due to Matt's Media Exclusion agreement) that we tried throughout the episode. This episode isn't without the dick jokes that are practically a pre-requisite when you talk microphones...and Roxy makes her triumphant return, keeping Aaron's attention almost the entire time.

Never Pass Go's newest EP is available for purchase for only $5 at Bandcamp.com - "Boy Become A Man" is the bands first attempt at an Acoustic Punk album, something lead singer Kevin Black is passionate about. He's working to create a sort of acoustic haven for musicians on tour, to make some extra cash and unplug for a bit. Working with Rosie O' Grady's in San Diego, he has a big event happening on May 5th.
