On June 11, 1963 John F. Kennedy, President of the United States, addressed the American people to set his expectations with regard to RACE IN AMERICA. He displayed courage when he implored everyone to examine their consciences and make changes to eliminate racist attitudes (especially toward Afro-Americans) and ensure civil rights for all. In his speech, he spoke of two famous Republicans who provided leadership towards civil rights, Abraham Lincoln and Supreme Court Justice John Marshall Harlan. As a Democrat, it was incredibly odd that JFK stated, "Race has no place in American life or law!" which was (and is) opposite of the Democratic Party''s main object. This statement most likely caused him to face his eventual murder (by a Democrat) later in November of 1963 (this will be discussed in the next episode). JFK became an Eagle when he served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II; afterward continuing his public service as a congressman, senator, and later President. Due to his courage to lead America towards civil rights for all, including African Americans, JFK is hereby considered a HOSS! The Eagle Hoss & Hound podcast is a platform for respect. Respect for the Eagle - the individual with a service background (including spouses). Respect for the Hoss - the Social Integrity Hero from our American past. Plus, the Hound - the common #AmericanMutt - you and me. Follow @EagleIMBUED - J.D. Collier
