Today, Lou and Teresa are still experiencing an adrenaline rush from their first conference. It was almost too much to take in: the speakers, the Community Table, the people, the fellowship. Line dancing too! What?! You weren’t there? You will want to listen in and hear all about it in today’s episode.

  • Suicide Revisited

    Send us Fan Mail

Today’s repeat episode is the very first Earrings Off episode from two years ago. Sadly, this subject remains relevant and heart-wrenching. Just this week, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill announced on World Mental Health Day, that they were  canceling classes. A UNC-Chapel Hill administration representative noted that in the wake of two student suicides in the past month, the university was "taking a moment to acknowledge and reflect on the seriousness of mental health illness and the challenges we face as we wrestle with the stress and pressures of our world today." There continues to be an elevated suicide rate among college-aged students. Today’s discussion will share insight on how the black community too is impacted by suicide. If you or someone you know needs help, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. They can be reached at 800.273.8255.

  • "Hair Talk" Redux

    Send us Fan Mail

It’s Lou’s turn to bring back an earlier Earrings Off episode. Wouldn’t you know she chose the earlier one about natural hair? Too often as African-American women, we are scrutinized when we go natural and scrutinized by our community when we choose not to go natural. We have enough to separate us, don’t add this too. In this repeat episode, Lou and Teresa encourage folks to “Mind yo business” and figure out what works for you. But…if you tell the Earrings Off co-hosts that you don’t work out because you don’t want to sweat and mess up your hair, you just may see them shed a tear. Listen in!
