I always appreciate an individual who puts his family before his career! What makes this story even better they are still young! Imagine figuring this stuff out while your young and before you rack up the "Stuff" of life. (Let's face it we accumulate stuff!) Caleb is a very smart individual who has NOT put his eggs in one basket (Amazon) only, 2/3rds of his sales are not on Amazon. This is a very solid interview where you can replicate Caleb's success and he offers a eflipping program that allows you to OA books from merchant fulfilled sellers to Amazon FBA by manipulating data. (His program does that) He is generously offering $5.00 off every month's subscription. Check it out here: The Book Flipper!
Jason is a character for sure, he knows it, he embraces it and gives you the chance to accept it or not! Either way, he knows you will remember him. Jason is very down to earth, very clear on his path and truly realizes that one thing leads to another. We spend a lot of time talking about how his life events have lead him all the way to a TV show (that was on for two seasons!) and more importantly how his life has given him the options to do what he wants for the last 9 years and his plan is to take it all the way to the end of his life! He plans on thrifting in a scooter!
Quincy Lin is a laser focused individual who really knows how to stay on task. His list : Gatedlist.com allows you to receive a list of great buys, based on established criteria all in the Shoe category. Any eCommerce seller realizes that in order to separate themselves from other sellers they have to go where the crowd is not; hence the gated category. Second you want to find areas where it is more difficult to get established, for example a category that has higher costs to get product. Third you have to find a category where you can be patient as sales are slower, but steady once you fill the funnel. So this is why Quincy is so focused on Shoes, it has all three attributes.
Steve clearly has brought an advantage to selling on Amazon, he was a commodity trader focused on buying low and selling high. Imagine the pressure when your dealing with large dollar amounts and really large quantities, it almost takes away fear. So his advantage of understanding markets, the effects other outside influences have on a market and the ability to spot market trends have lead Steve to expand into Europe with Amazon.eu which is now 25% of his business. (and growing)
Steve brings up the great advantage of using Amazon to teach his kids (and their friends) a true life skill that they will use going forward in every aspect of their life! He also will get you to say: Every new thing takes 60days of suck to learn/manage and master. Get it in your head: 60 days of suck!
So many people talk about having a retail location to sell overstock and returns. While that is a great idea and Peter does that, he smartly figured out that having a retail location for buying/selling and trading it allows him to have products brought right to them. They get to hold it in their hands, they get to look it up for price comparisons and as he tells us, he can say no very easily. He sees tonnage and gets to be kind of picky over time. We spend a lot of time talking about how they learn over time what sells and how fast it sells. It is worth noting that 70% of Peter's sales are done through eCommerce in some way....Again think about Peter's retail location...selling helps cover the costs but buying really pays the bills! So smart!
