In Episode 20, Diego Rodriguez a local youth soccer coach talks about how he got into coaching, why he wants to teach Physical Education, his coaching philosophy and more.  He mentions how important it is to follow your own path and strive for excellence.   Diego credits his former teachers, coaches and family for allowing him to focus on his future.  He was able to gain work experience, get into coaching and develop a plan for his future as a P.E. teacher.

In Episode 19, Luis Gonzalez joined me to talk about his life, love for the outdoors, plans for the future and our hometown.  Luis was born in Michoacán, México and came to the United States at the age of 9.  He talks about how he had to fit in and find his way into a new culture.  We also were able to talk about his current major at Sac State, psychology.  We talked about why he chose his major and what he has learned before going back to college.   What he plans to do when he finishes school and how his previous experiences have helped him prepare for his career.  We also talk about traveling and the beautiful outdoors and of course we talk culture and the growth of Sacramento.

In Episode 18, I was able to sit down with a long time friend, entrepreneur, corporate trainer and consultant and more.  A Queens, New York native and Sacramento State Graduate is using his business experience and education to empower many new franchisees.  His family are franchisees and have over a decade of experience owning and operating their own stores.  While attending Natomas High School he was helping around the stores and later took on a managerial position.  Sanjeet credits the business for allowing him to become comfortable around others and "breaking out of his shell."  After earning his MBA from Sac State he got married and took a position in San Diego, Ca.  While moving away from home was difficult he was able to learn new things and experience a corporate atmosphere.  Sanjeet is now back in Sacramento with his family and feels inspired in training others to be successful with their new franchises.  We talk about how COVID-19 crisis will change some businesses forever.  He gives us his opinion on how to start a new business and his plans for the future.

In Episode 17, I was able to talk to Reyes the Entrepreneur from Coalinga, Ca.  Reyes is a big time YouTuber who started from the bottom and is now  at almost 400k subscribers.  His story is on YouTube as he inspires others to start businesses and work towards their dreams.  We talked over a video call while he was in Utah filming ride-alongs with aspiring entrepreneurs.  He has always had a passion for teaching and found a way to do this through the free platform, YouTube.  Reyes mentions how he got started and why he got started.  He repeatedly tells us to "just get started."  This has become a part of my life and my projects.  Just get started. In Episode 16,  I sat down with one of my co-workers and colleagues to talk about the challenges of distance learning, working from home, adapting to the virtual classroom and more.  Andrew Jones, originally from Illinois, has lived in different areas of the country and brings a background of music, being a camp leader and some traveling circus experience to the classroom.  I highlight that the first time I met him he was dazzling his students by greeting them at the door while juggling.  Mr. Jones is also a Harp player and was ready to make this a second profession but the COVID-19 outbreak halted his debut.  Listen to the full episode and see what Andrew does to shape young minds through the use of literature and writing.

In Episode 15, I really started to question myself and dig deep into my why.  I was able to have an exceptional conversation with Phanath "Nate" Sengmany, the "Trust Your Hustle" advocate.  I met Nate about 10 years ago working at Starbucks.  His energy and his overachieving customer service really brightened up everyone's day.  I started to notice how well he knew all of his customers and was great at building relationships.  Born in Laos and evading war violence his family eventually settled in Del Paso Heights, Sacramento, Ca.  Nate lives life with passion.  You can find him hiking throughout Northern California and the Western region.  Check him out at @nateintheclouds , @natepose and @hitandhike .  

Like he mentions in the episode "our energy matched" and we were able to talk about our origins, marketing, entrepreneurship, mentorship and self reflection.  This episode has opened my eyes to really question my decisions and continue on the path to match my "why."  For now, my why is to continue showcasing my friends and their amazing talents while inspiring others to do continue being positive and applying their talents.

In Episode 14,  I was able to chat with Jesús F. Martinez better known as Pakito.  He was born and raised in La Piedad, Michoacan, México.  Pakito details his experiences in México and how education compares here in California.  He was able to migrate to the United States at the age of 15 years old and enrolled at Grant Union High School.  While in high school he overcame being labeled an english learner, ignored by counselors, support staff and the pressure of getting a job from his family.  He is now a student at American River College and is working towards fulfilling his life dream.  His dream is to work in a prison.  He wants to be that inspiring figure and story for those who need it.  Listen to the full episode and let us know what you think.

In Episode 13, my guest Miguel Recendez, a local musician talks and college student talks about his passion for music, his journey through chemotherapy and insights on the music scene in Sacramento.   Miguel is a self taught musician who credits his father and his first music teacher Mr. Galindo for opening up the world of music to him.   We talk about how he went from destroying the soccer field and becoming a top player in Northern California to an aspiring music teacher.  His experience of being a phase 2a cancer patient taught him many things about himself at the young age of 19 years old.  He is soulfully grateful and you can hear it in every note.

In Episode 12,

Listen to this story about a father of 4 who went from normal to paralyzed in seconds.  He didn't suffer a car accident or any horrific injury.  He was at work and sitting down.  He went from a normal life with his wife and kids to a hospital bed.  Most people who end up at the hospital are optimistic because the doctors are experienced and know what to treat but what if the doctors don't know what is wrong with you?  What if the pain you feel goes away.  Well it goes away because you can't feel anything.  

J.Cruz was eventually diagnosed with Acute Transverse Myelitis.

Listen to this miracle story and find inspiration in what he does daily.   His "no excuses" mentality and the will to do it for someone else is what has made him look at life from another angle.  He now stays extremely active to just give himself another chance at "normal."   He has decided to capture his journey and build a community for others to be inspired.
