In Episode 11 of Season 2, Rachelle is pursuing her Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. Rachelle is the daughter of Filipino immigrants and she talks about how important education was in her household. She shares with us her journey through college at UC Berkeley and all the challenges college brings including debt, living away from home, dramatic study hours and peer pressure. We talk about how society has created an unnecessary pressure to achieve a college education and pursue a certain career. Rachelle is very open about why she chose to continue her schooling and what her plans are after college.

In Episode 10 of Season 2, Mike B. talks to me about growing up in Oak Park (Sacramento), community outreach, gentrification, politics and more. Mike Benjamin II, an Oak Park native and advocate is highly involved in different organizations for an under served neighborhood. We get into why he loves to give back and what he strives for on a daily basis. The title of the episode is a strong indication that Mike enjoys giving back to his community and creating more resources for the future generation. We have a cool debate about housing development and the music industry.

March 26, 2021 #38 - Amobi Okugo | A Frugal Athlete
Season 2, Episode 9
In Episode 9 of Season 2, I talk to Amobi Okugo, professional soccer player and businessman. Amobi, son of Nigerian immigrants currently plays for the Austin Bold of the USL. We were able to talk about his playing career and experience with the U.S. Men's National Team, UCLA and the MLS. I was inspired by his energy on the field and in the business world. He has a foundation, three podcasts and several projects including Frugal Athlete which helps athletes make, manage and multiply money through financial education and athlete empowerment. He has plans to stay in soccer as long as he can and reach as many people as he can through his businesses and endeavors. If you don't see him on the field you will see him on different platforms showcasing other athletes, sharing stories and empowering his peers.

In Episode 8 of Season 2, I am joined by Ivan Sanchez Carrasco in Portland, Oregon. A journalist himself shares what it is like to grow up in a bilingual and bicultural household. We talk about his blogging days with the Portland Timbers. He is a huge advocate for education and has joined a Non-Profit that benefited students during the pandemic through the game of soccer. During the pandemic he started a Salsa company which was fueled by his passion of cooking with his mother. His family is originally from Jalisco, México and is actually really close to where my mother is from and so we had a lot to talk about.

In this episode we dive into the cultural connection that we have with our parent's homeland, México. In Episode 4 of Season 2, I am joined by Thales Peterson, the head coach of L.A. Force of NISA (National Independent Soccer Association.). Thales was born and raised in Brazil and has soccer pumping through his veins. His family wanted him to attend law school and pursue this career. He had his own idea of success and this has taken him to Southern California where he is a professional soccer coach at L.A. Force, manager of a soccer complex and above that a father of two. We talk about his experience coaching youth teams, training young players to coaching professional players. Thales is also a big believer in bettering yourself everyday and he sends this message to his players everyday through his social media and at training. He brings his passion for the game to every single training session and even during this podcast interview. We talk soccer, life, and culture.

In Episode 3 of Season 2, I get to chat with my brother about his life as a journeyman. He is currently working as a union worker throughout California. Raúl has worked in customer service, insurance, hospitality and sales but he is now working a more physically demanding job. We talk about the difference between mental stress and physical stress. Our experiences, values and views on life are very similar but we definitely have our own personalities.
