We’ll dive into a few things. It is Election Day so we’ll kick off the show with the amazing song, "Get On The Bus" from Una and Bob Walkenhorst about getting out and doing your civic duty today. It’s from their 2018 album, For Tomorrow, that was as voted on by Bridge listeners as their favorite album of the year, when it came out back in 2018.

We’ll take a moment to give thanks and look back on the Irish troubadour, Glen Hansard’s tour history through Kansas City with The Frames, The Swell Season, and otherwise. Glen loved this station and he loved Jon Hart, personally giving him accolades from the stage during a show years ago.

After that we’ll see where we are and dive into a stack of new releases. We’ll hear brand new music from Brent Windler, Flora from Kansas, Of a Feather, Markcus Sanders, Jacquelyn Michele, and The DeLazers.

We’ll also hear music from the 10-years in the making, the debut release from Copper Threading who are playing a free show on Wednesday at Boulevard Beer Hall and this Saturday you can see them at Independence Roots Music Fest. We’ll also hear a new one from Danny McGaw who is part of the lineup for Kansas City Irish Fest next month, and has gigs at Buffalo State Pizza in The Crossroads on Aug 21 and Strang Hall on Aug 29. And we’ll hear a remix version of a Kat King song, you can catch her and her band on Thursday at The Greenwood Social Hall.

We celebrate the 2026 AMERI’KANA Music and Arts Festival. We welcome in special guest Enrique Chi or the band Making Movies. Years ago Making Movies created a non-profit organization, Art As Mentorship. From that journey, Kansas City was gifted a new community fest that is a celebration of the myriad backgrounds, cultures, languages, and sounds that have shaped American music.

The annual event is happening this Saturday at Concourse Park, it’s free, all-ages, family-friendly, and features an amazing lineup of bands and musicians. On the show we’ll hear music from several acts on the lineup including Making Movies, Radkey, Gina Chavez, Rosie Flores, The Freedom Threedom, and Teri Quinn.

Enrique will share with us stories of the fest, how this year’s lineup came together, and why you should come out this Saturday and be part of this powerful celebration.

Elias Abid has a brand new single and he’ll be part of a World Cup Watch Party for the Algeria vs Switzerland match on Thursday, July 2 at In The Lowest Ferns in The West Bottoms.

A programming note, this week on 90.9 The Bridge, from Wednesday through Saturday, we’ll be counting down your Top 909 Cover Songs of All Time. To help kick off that fanfare, we’ll hear two brand new cover songs from KC acts: Chris Hazelton's take on a Huey Lewis & The News tune and a surprising take from Honeybee of Puddle of Mudd’s biggest hit.

We welcome in two special guests, Jamogi and Streetcar Donna! After three years of hard work and determination, Jamogi’s new album “J’Day” was just released on June 12. We’ll hear some music from the album and the stories behind the songs.

Streetcar Donna is the Communications Director for KC Streetcar. She’s been busy with the opening of the streetcar expansion to the south to UMKC, and now to the north to KC Current's CPKC Stadium. She’ll stop by to talk about a new concert series collaboration with Manor Records called Streetcar Sounds. The series runs June 17 to July 8. The very first act to play the series will be Jamogi on June 17 at the Riverfront stop near CPKC Stadium/Current Landing.

It should be a fun show. Hopefully we’ll hear music from these folks featured on Jamogi’s album or acts playing the Streetcar Sounds Concert Series on the show: Les Izmore, FlareThaRebel, The Swallowtails, Jazlyn Epps, The Royal Chief, and Broderick Jones.

We’re talking all about The World Cup. It’s finally here, and with all of the excitement comes a massive, free, 18-day FIFA Fan Fest at Liberty Memorial Park. The lineup features 70+ acts playing more than 80 sets from June 11 to July 11.

Fan Fest is free, but you do need to register at www.kc2026.com. So far, people from all 50 states and 120+ countries have registered to celebrate The World Cup in Kansas City.
On the show, we’ll play music from some of the acts representing KC, including Laura Noble, Ernest Melton, Hailes, Deshica Rage, and Missouri native and 9-time Grammy winner Sheryl Crow.

We’ll also hear brand-new music from TheBabeGabe, whose new EP comes out Friday. Plus, we’ll play a new one from Kadesh Flow x Kemet Coleman called “Messy,” which just might include a reference to the great one, Messi, from defending World Cup champions Argentina.

We’ll also hear music from acts traveling a long way to be part of Fan Fest, including JEA from Amsterdam, Cimafunk from Cuba, RAEY from Curaçao, and Mireya Ramos from Puerto Rico.

We’ll sit down with the organizers of a new KC event called Americana and Ales Fest. The fest is on Saturday, June 20 in Downtown Shawnee with a full day of music, craft beer, food, and community celebration. We’ll talk with Eddie Crane, Travis Fields, and Andrew Morris to learn more about the event and the bands on the lineup.

 
The festival will host 10 bands on two stages, one outdoor and the other inside, utilizing the venue, Aztec Shawnee Theater in Downtown Shawnee. Tune into the radio show and you might hear music from these acts on the lineup:  Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, Making Movies, Special Consensus, The HillBenders, Calvin Arsenia, Dusty Rust, Of a Feather, The Lost Keys, Konza Swamp Band, and Dimension Bill Edwards.

In addition to free live music, Americana and Ales features a ticketed Craft Beer Festival showcasing a variety of craft breweries, specialty beers, and local favorites.
