Chris also sits down with Steddy P, who has been part of KC's hip hop scene for nearly two decades. In addition to creating his own impressive catalog, in 2006 he started the IndyGround record label and has released music for acts from KC and beyond.

As these are historic times, Steddy P. will talk to us about the ongoing protests here in KC and in Columbia, MO. He’ll also talk with us about what white allies and supporters can do to help — what we can sign or donate to help make a difference.

On this week's episode of the Eight One Sixty, we celebrate KC music from the '90s. This show was a lot of fun to put together — digging through hard drives, looking up old articles and blog posts, and scouring through YouTube and Discogs. Things are weird right now, but maybe we can give you a brief moment of escape, to sit back and enjoy some KC music from a couple decades ago.

On this episode of Eight One Sixty, it's another show dedicated to new and recent releases from KC-area musicians! Even though we’re in the middle of a pandemic, musicians are getting creative on how they create, produce and distribute their art. We’ll hear brand new music almost a decade in the making from The Republic Tigers, who are releasing "Mind Over Matter" on June 5 via The Record Machine. We'll also hear from Saint Sé (featuring Allison Gliesman of Mess), Nan + The One Nite Stands, Andrew R Morris (of The Matchsellers), Jordana, Duncan Burnett, Sam Arjes Music, a remix by BODYE (aka Marty Hilliard of EBONY TUSKS and Cowboy Indian Bear) of a song from HEALTH, David Burchfield & the Fire Guild and we’ll wrap up with a new tune from DJ Lee, AKA Rockababyrock. 

We'll begin the show by announcing the grand total raised by KC Bands Together for Midwest Music Foundation! The two-night event, with 6 hours of live-streamed music (and an hour-long highlight reel on KCPT Kansas City PBS) has been viewed by more than 34,000 people online.

On this week's episode of Eight One Sixty, Chris is playing new music and giving a quick shout-out to those who helped with the KC Bands Together livestream over the weekend. He'll also provide info about how you can watch an hour-long recap of the event this Friday at 8 p.m. on KCPT Kansas City PBS and on The Bridge's Facebook page (as well as Midwest Music Foundation and You Found Music. 

After that, we’ll dive into new music from KC musicians and bands. We’ll hear a beautiful, brand new song that debuted during KC Bands Together from The Elders, called “We Are Same.” Then we’ll hear new ones from Sam Arjes, Good Saint Nathanael, Chase The Horseman, They Call Me Sauce, Hotel Leo, SHINER, The Jinxed, Timbers and Jo MacKenzie Music.

On this week's episode of Eight One Sixty, we turn our attention back to a special Facebook livestream event happening this Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16 — KC Bands Together • A Livestream Concert Event! It’s happening both nights at 8:30PM, featuring 10 acts each night. The event is a fundraiser for Midwest Music Foundation, but bigger than that, it’s a celebration of Kansas City by great musicians that either live here now or are from here, playing for you in comfort of your home. We'll play music from several of the acts, including — recently added to the lineup — Samantha Fish, and we’ll also have an interview with Enrique Chi of Making Movies. We’ll talk to Enrique about his nonprofit organization, Art As Mentorship, and the work he’s doing to change the lives of kids. We'll also talk about Making Movies playing a 10,000-capacity room in Mexico City opening up for their hero, Rubén Blades, and an inspirational story about his band being touched by Midwest Music Foundation.

We’ll hear music from Samantha Fish, Danielle Nicole Band, The Greeting Committee, Fritz Hutchison, Making Movies, and we’ll kick of the show with a new project from David George. It’s a song called “When We All Come Together," featuring 100+ KC musicians playing and singing a song that he wrote.

Tonight's episode of the Eight One Sixty includes a very special announcement! Madisen is a great singer-songwriter, film geek, pop-culture fan, a talented showman and a bit of a comedian. He's taken all of these traits and turned them into a series of recordings that he calls "Quarantunes." On the show we'll play several of his Quarantunes and enjoy his storytelling during these weird times.

Some of the music came out recently, some comes out this week and some is a preview of music coming out soon.
