The end of the year is a natural time to reflect on personal shifts that could allow us to feel like we're living more fully. During today's mini jolt, I share a fun alternative to creating New Year's resolutions that's sparked joy for me in years past and even enhanced my marriage. It's called 23 for 2023. This is my twist on a practice originally created by Gretchen Rubin, a researcher and writer who studies happiness and habits.
This list is all about 23 things you're excited to tackle that you know will give you a happiness boost. The catch is they must be one-offs that you can easily cross off the list, like making homemade meatballs, versus long-term goals or habit changes.
Listen in for tips on what to put on your list as well as what I've learned from doing this practice for years. I would love to hear what you're planning for yourself in the first week of 2023. Message me or tag me on IG with your thoughts - @whitneywoman.
In this episode, we cover:
-What is 23 for 2023?
-Some examples of things you can add to your 20 for 2023 list
-My personal twist on this exercise that I absolutely love
-A few tips if you're interested in trying this exercise
-You may not get through your entire list, and that's okay

For many women, creating habits and sticking to them can be tough. Oftentimes, when we struggle to stick with new habits, we tend to blame ourselves. However, we should really be blaming the methods. The habit formations we have been taught are not designed for the lives we lead. So, we need to fix how we view habits and create a method that works for us.
Today I talk with Monica Packer, a recovering perfectionist, podcaster and Progress Coach. Monica helps women ditch perfectionism, step into their gifts and move towards real progress.
Monica shares why it is so hard for women to create habits that stick and how to be consistent with grace, without being an underachiever or a perfectionist. We also discuss redefining consistency and habits, the importance of having a baseline, and a process for evaluating what habits to prioritize.

Benedictine Monk and scholar David Steindl-Rast, often referred to as the father of gratitude, says, "The root of joy is gratefulness. It is not joy that makes us grateful. It is gratitude that makes us joyful." During a season where many of us reflect on what we are thankful for, in today's mini jolt, I explore how practicing gratitude in our everyday lives is a source of deeper happiness.
I share the connection between gratitude and happiness, how to live gratefully in the world, and some of my favorite teachings from David Steindl-Rast.
I hope this episode inspires you to open up a broader concept of grateful living. I would love to hear from you and to hear where you've decided to place a gratitude stop sign in your life. Message me or tag me on IG with your thoughts - @whitneywoman.

Lucille Ball famously said, "Love yourself first, and everything else falls in line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world." In today's episode, we bring this quote to life. I talk with holistic healer Sacred Walker about the power of self-love and how it informs all aspects of our lives, including our relationships.
Sacred works in a very multi-disciplinary capacity. She founded Kuumba Health center where she and her team offer what she describes as "self-love medicine coaching." She is an LGBT Afro-Jamaican mental health therapist, interfaith minister, healing artist and motivational speaker.
Sacred completed seminary school, where she worked under Dr. Cornel West. Today she specializes in holistic healing, and has advanced training in drama therapy, mind-body medicine, stress reduction, mindfulness, strategic planning, well-being and mindset for success strategies. She also consults for executives at ESPN, BET and New York Times, and hosts a podcast called: Self Love for Everyday Superheroes. Her work has been featured on many noteworthy platforms, including Essence Magazine, Business Equality Magazine and Psychology Today.
Sacred teaches us how to connect more deeply with others, the importance of accepting others, and how we can grow our capacity to love ourselves. We also talked about a new definition of L.O.V.E and the power of listening to our body.

Every day we make choices – both consciously and unconsciously – to either boost our vibration or invite in a lower frequency. Everything from the news we listen to and the food we eat, to the people we engage with impacts our energy. Our guest today calls on women to consistently take mindset checks so we can become more intentional about what we attract into our lives and, in doing so, step into a higher version of ourselves.
In this powerful episode, I talk with Mesha McKittrick, a mindset coach and creator of the podcast, Mindset Check. Mesha is someone who has overcome adversity in her own life and turned her pain into purpose. As a coach and public speaker, she inspires women in various ways through her "My Friend Mesha" brand platform.
Mesha shares various ways people can consciously boost their vibration and tons of actionable ideas for moving through heavier emotions. She shares her personal experience of understanding and growing past victim mentality and some mindset shifts that can lead to breakthroughs.
