In this episode, I chat with 2018  Idaho History Teacher of the Year, Kelly Holder, about the importance of social studies in elementary classrooms.  Kelly is a 5th-grade teacher at Maple Grove Elementary in Boise, Idaho.  She shares her expertise in teaching empathy, listening, and helping kids see events from different points of view through her social studies classes.  Our youngest learners benefit from social studies classes: they learn to read, think critically, analyze events, and infer!
