Pearson International Airport in Toronto, which newKerala.com calls "the busiest in Canada," is facing at least eight lawsuits for a death and injuries, allegedly resulting from problems with wheelchair services. The defendants include operator Greater Toronto Airports Authority and various airlines and contracted companies since 2011. The suit alleges wheelchair shortages, staff errors, poor training and other types of negligence, which it said led to the aforementioned incidents. According to the source, the airport “receives approximately 80,000 requests for wheelchair assistance per month, more than most other major hub airports in North America.”

Construction is completing on the 60-story, 145-unit residential tower at 56 Leonard Street at Church Street in New York City’s (NYC) Tribeca neighborhood, New York YIMBY reports. All that remains for the exterior is replacement of the construction elevator with a façade. The 821-foot-tall building’s Jenga®-like pattern of overhanging floors is prominent. Herzog & de Meuron designed the eyecatching edifice, and Alexico Group and Hines are its developers.
DEVELOPMENT WOULD TRANSFORM L.A. ARTS DISTRICT
Despite size concerns, developer SunCal of Irvine, California, is proposing a major mixed-use project that includes a pair of 58-story towers in the heart of Los Angeles' Arts District at 6th and Alameda streets, the Los Angeles Times reports. What is being called 6AM would transform the formerly down-on-its-luck neighborhood with approximately 1,730 residences, two hotels, offices, a school and public space on the site of two warehouses. The Arts District has been on the upswing in recent years, with high-end lofts, restaurants and galleries opening. Some observers said they would welcome 6AM as an antidote to the housing shortage and part of the changing, taller face of L.A.

DESIGN OF HUDSON YARDS SKYSCRAPER REVEALED

The images, courtesy of Related, show a Diller Scofido + Renfro Rockwell Group futuristic structure featuring a streamlined base tapering into a four-tubed, cloverlike peak. The structure will contain approximately 390 residential units. In a testament to just how significant NYC's supertall building boom is, 15 Hudson Yards will likely barely break the top 10 of the city's tallest residential buildings.
