This week a group of Elk Grove residents unsuccessfully appealed a zoning administrator decision on the Coral Blossom apartment complex. Their appeal was really an objection to the supportive aspect of that project.

So, I’m at the gym Sunday morning, getting in some treadmill work, when I look up at the TV screen in front of me. One of the morning political talk shows was airing, and the caption showing the issue being discussed read, “Democrats calling for Biden to step down after poor debate performance!”

Observers of the Elk Grove City Council have long asserted many decisions are already made before they appear on the agenda for a public hearing. During the June 26 Elk Grove City Council meeting, city manager Jason Behrmann inadvertently confirmed this long-held belief.

As it has for the last couple of terms, the United States Supreme Court has issued consequential rulings, and this term was no different. We are calling one decision issued earlier this week, the Small Town Legal Bribery Act.
