Have you ever gotten a large sum of money and blew it all? Are you the type of person who swipes their card and prays they have enough $ left on their card? Do you want to start budgeting but you're discouraged because you don't want to "miss out" or be judged? If this is you, don't be ashamed. We all have to start somewhere and growing pains are welcomed. I decided I would be financially responsible early on in life because I saw the opportunites I could create for myself and my family If i adopted a financially responsible mindset, something I had NO example of growing up.
On this episode I sit down with founder of the Responsible Homegirl, Kionnie Epps. Out of her own financial struggles in college, she learned the importance of financial literacy and how detrimental financial ignorance can be. This realization led to the birth of her digital brand that shares financial education so young adults can do what they love and build a life of luxury.

Years ago Laura Doyle found herself in a loveless marriage. She couldn't understand why she was experiencing so many problems in her relationship and believed it was ALL her husband's fault. She complained and nagged until one day she decided she was tired of the same cycles and decided to make a change. From there she went around asking women in lasting marriages what the secret was to a loving, passionate and peaceful marriage. What she discovered is what she calls the 6 intimacy skills in the Empowered Wife Book.
I've found some of her skills very helpful and wanted to share them with you. Overall I believe this book is a good starting point for a newly wed or someone with no relational skills when it relates to marriage. Otherwise you will need additional support. Laura Doyle offers support/coaching for women who are interested. I can also refer you to a woman I've worked with personally for relationship coaching.

There are pros and cons to getting married at ANY age, but there seems to be an overall consensus that getting married young is not the way to go. Typically with age comes more wisdom, knowledge, financial security, emotional and pyschological maturity so marrying later on in life just makes sense... well maybe? We all know that there is no "cookie cutter" way to experience life and we are all unique beings called to do and experience life in unique ways...
On this episode I discuss the common reasons people oppose getting married young, the pros to marrying young and common reasons for divorce.

Dealing with "toxic" family members is hard, but what happens when the "toxic" person is your mother? It may leave you feeling guilty, depressed, anxious and maybe a little envious of others who get to experience your mother in a completely different (healthy) way then you may have. On this episode I discuss the trauma mother can cause on her child when they are broken, narcissistic, and abusive (physically, verbally, mentally, spiritually) with South African author and coach Moshitadi Lehlomela. If you want to fix the relationship with your mom tap in.

We've all heard the saying "money is the root of all evil" but we know that this isn't true. Money is a resource that helps us survive. When you begin to put money on a pedestal that's when it gets tricky. Money like anything else can be used for evil when a person is willing to lie, cheat, and manipulate all for the sake of a dollar. In this episode I discuss the recent audio clip Cardi B released about the music she creates. She said that she no longer wants to create the music like the song "shake it" because it brings out demons in herself that she killed. When she creates this music she feels like those demons return. I'll never know if this was a genuine concern of Cardi or a PR stunt but what I do know is that you shouldn't sell yourself short for $$$ or compromise on your values, morals, and beliefs it always comes back ten fold.

As 20-somethings we are embracing the realities of adulthood. Whether its graduating school and figuring out next steps, relocating out of your hometown, getting into your first real relationship, or getting your career started. All of this requires learning and growing. Thats why its important to be okay with change. Be ok with reinventing yourself, your goals and values and be unapologetic about it.
Being authentic can be scary but its the best thing you can do for yourself. It helps you to grow who you are & be self-aware.

For a while I struggled with having a victim mentality. I would often ask myself “why is this happening to me.” It wasn’t until my husband brung this mentality to my attention that helped me became more aware of this. Recently I decided to stop asking “why this is happening to me” and started to ask, “why is this happening for me”?! The wonderful Coach Kelly J gave me that last gem. Perspective is so important.
