Intranets often get a bad rap! And rightly so.
Too often they are places where information and communication goes to die.
In this episode, I chat with Ben Leach - Consulting Director and Co-Founder of Information EXP.
We dive into the true potential of intranets.
Ben discusses his extensive experience with SharePoint and intranet projects, highlighting the pivotal role an intranet can play in organisational communication, employee engagement, and overall productivity when implemented effectively.
The discussion also covers best practices for creating successful intranets, including clear purpose, strategic content management, and the importance of authentic engagement from leadership.
We also address common pitfalls and provide practical advice for companies looking to revamp or build their intranet to ensure it truly serves its intended purpose.

How do you set up employer branding for success in your organisation?
We chatted to Victor Rubin again to cover this important topic.
Getting it right will ultimately help grow the influence of employer branding and elevate its business importance.
What’s better for employer branding? Online or in person events?
It's really important for the employer branding community to have in-person events. Brining experiences together in one place can play a big role in elevating the sector.
Chris Le'cand-Harwood chats with the EBCon Wizard - Sorin Olteanu - about the importance of in-person events and how to set them up. He's joined Emmple as a fellow event organiser [EBCon in Bucharest].

Get leadership right. Get employer branding right. It all starts from the top. So how do you do it?
I asked Matthew McGrath the question at the Empple Employer Branding Festival.
Content Marketing is more than producing content that sells a brand. It’s about producing content that actually adds value to someone’s day to day.
This is why I set up my business Content Marketing Pod Ltd.
And it’s why I do partnerships with organisations like Not Going To Uni and their client - the Royal Air Force.
Find Your Force was created as a strapline for the RAF’s recruitment years ago. But what if it was more than the masthead of a national ad campaign?
That’s where the Find Your Force podcast came in!
Season 1 was a chance to pilot our strategy with audio only episodes. Season 2 saw us set up a studio on an RAF base for a vidcast.
Season 3 took it up a whole other level as we took kit and crew to the boxing ring, football pitch, rugby pitch, swimming pool, gym and e-sports room!
Find Your Force Season 3 was all about sport and how it can help you find your career potential.
Having a solid content strategy meant we had editorial clarity and a clear brief for the crew, the host and our guests. And we had a great balance between providing guidance to our guests while having a fun and flexible shoot. It put them at ease in front of the camera and were absolute naturals!
It won gongs at the Recruitment Marketing Awards and the Lens Awards, and got shortlisted twice at the RADs. And it helped the RAF attract even more quality candidates via the Not Going To Uni website.
We packed in a whole lot of filming with some great sports people over three days across two RAF bases. The weather was terrible but we powered through and had a great time!
And the most important thing?
We gave a group of people at the RAF a platform to say why they love sport, share their stories and give advice to anyone starting out in their career.
Because everyone has career potential, they just need help finding it.
Here are some of the episode trailers.

It was an absolute pleasure being part of the crew at Not Going To Uni. Using our combined skills to help the next generation of talent is a real privilege.
Want to chat about this project more? I’d be happy to chat about it.

How do you bridge the gap between employer branding and senior leadership? How do you turn it into a business tool?
I chatted with Chaib Whiteford at the Empple Employer Branding Festival to find out.
Producing content is such a big part of employer branding and talent attraction. But it’s rare to get a real insight into how to do it. Case studies presented at events don’t really cut it IMO!
So we went behind the scenes of a production I was involved in as Director and Producer.
Cygnet recruit across various roles in mental health and social care, particularly nurses. It’s not easy when demand for talent outstrips the supply of talent.
It’s competitive out there!
So we produced a “Passion for Nursing” Series with the wonderful nurses of Cygnet [in partnership with the most excellent team at AudienceLink - shout out to my partner in content Jonathan Farber too!].
The series included a short nursing documentary and podcast episodes at a mental health care hospital in London.
Here’s segment of a conversation I had with Ben Hopewell [Head of Resourcing at Cygnet] and Rowan Marriott [Founder of AudienceLink and my fellow Co-Founder of Engage Car Talent].
And here’s the trailer and full episode of the nursing documentary.
