It's pretty hard, isn't it? Trying to figure out a way to take care of your personal wellness alongside the health of your children. Especially when there are added dynamics like neurodiversity and differences in personalities, needs, interests and more.

Over the years, Dave and I have had to learn some fairly hard lessons when it comes to what we truly need in order to show up for our family. From setting boundaries, asking for help, to pouring into our own health and the COMMUNICATING with our entire family about the importance of health and wellness...

We are working at it, a little bit more every day. In the end, as the saying goes - we cannot pour from an empty cup or show up well from a place of depletion - so learning some of these key practices can make a world of difference when trying to manage our personal health and our children/family health too.

Mental Health is Health. And when it comes to important seasons like midlife and perimenopause, we have to keep normalizing the discussion around mental health and how our bodies change right alongside our brains.

For me personally, my mental health was the first piece to the puzzle that felt impossible to manage after 40. While I have experience all kinds of changes and symptoms, mental well-being was the most significant. I know this is the reality for so many women, which is why I'm sharing my story.

Just for fun, I went over to google and asked "what are the 3 most common questions currently inside women's health?" I thought all 3 were on point and quite honestly, questions I've come across often in my own health journey and as I talk to more women who are working on their wellness.

Health is highly individual. I've said this before as a women's health coach and I think it's important to share it again - when it comes to deeply personalized topics like our female physiology, hormone health and gut health, we are doing women a massive disservice if we don't speak up enough about how bio-individual these topics are. Meaning - diving into these things for our wellness is UNIQUE to each of us!

Sustainable health isn't a cookie cutter concept. And it's not a cookie cutter topic. Women deserve better and as someone who is incredibly passionate about serving women well, we are talking about the importance of understanding bio-individuality today. What is it? And why does it matter?

Overall, it matters because our physiology changes every single day as women and the more we know, the more we connect to knowledgeable practitioners, the more we work strategically with health coaches like me, the more we learn about the science studied on women, the more we understand how to uniquely serve our body, brain, lifestyle and more - the more we can lean into the best and most powerful practices for our personalized longevity wellness.

I've been a Mom for almost 13 years. And next week - all 4 of our kids will be in full-time school for the first time. While I know this season is going to be an amazing experience and transition for all of us - it doesn't always feel that way.

The truth is - the emotions inside CHANGE are big. They can feel so overwhelming and challenging, which is why it's incredibly important to normalize and share and reflect - together. This week - I had a friend ask me about managing stress and key tools to help with things like low mood and depression. I loved this question for a few reasons. One - because there are so many things we can do/control and at the same time, this is a loaded question because it's truly an incredibly unique process for each and every one of us.

Have you ever heard a quote or someone share something in a presentation, podcast or conversation that felt SO incredibly profound? Like the message was meant for you, at that exact moment and was inevitably something you were meant to hear?

That happened to me last week at my business mentorship event, surrounded by dozens of amazing mission-driven entrepreneurs and led by the incredible AJ and Rory Vaden of Brand Builders Group. Have you ever had to take a huge step out of your comfort zone and felt completely unsure of yourself? Like you had no idea what you were doing but you knew that the best next step was in the direction that you were headed? That's what I'm sharing about this week.

At the beginning of this year, I invested in a business mentorship to help me start to formulate my ideas, vision and mission to serve in the health and wellness space. It has been an incredibly uncomfortable journey of growth and learning for the past 6 months, but one that I wouldn't trade for the world.

That's one of the most powerful things we can remember about stepping out of our comfort zone. While YES! It can feel scary, uncertain and incredibly overwhelming - the growth that comes from it is something that translates into every other aspect of our lives. What a gift!

On today's episode of Empowered in Health, I interview the incredible Dr. Paige Gutheil.

Dr. Paige is an osteopathic family medicine physician, teacher and founder of the industry-disrupting holistic healthcare collaborative, Signature Primary Care and Wellness. There she partners with her patients directly, providing comprehensive primary care and integrative health memberships.

She has empowered and equipped thousands of midlife women to stop feeling “sick and tired of being sick and tired” with her Signature Whole Health tools and support systems. In addition to her private clinical practice, she serves as Assistant Professor of Primary Care Medicine at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. She teaches medical students and helps to lead curriculum innovation to develop the next generation of physicians.

Medical students, patients AND clinicians are all in the same boat in many ways - we all need to continually evolve our knowledge and be supported in our Whole Health so she loves a "boots on the ground" approach to helping you identify your health goals, preferred approaches to balancing your Whole Health - mind, body, spirit and life.
