Encouraging the Encouragers

I have a confession.  When I first started charging for my coaching and my speaking... I didn't charge near enough!  I undersold my value... and honestly... it was killing out my ability to build a business and clipping my chances to be a "Well-Paid Encourager."  But then... a mentor of my encouraged me with a phrase and a mindset that CHANGED EVERYTHING!!!  Now... I'm wildly grateful I've been able to generate 7-figures in speaking, coaching, events and content creation!  Now... I don't say that to brag!  I say it to inspire you so that you know that you know that you know... you can do it too!  So let's get you that phrase!

So this is our first "Spiritual Sunday" episode.  In THIS episode... I got some powerful wisdom from my good friend Drew McLELLAN.  Drew has worked in advertising for over 25 years.  He's also one of the 10 people the Wall Street Journal says you should pay attention to when it comes to blogging and putting out great content!

His tip made a huge difference for me AND it helped me to overcome a lot of my perfectionist tendencies too!  (Yes. I'm Mitch Matthews and I am a recovering perfectionist.).  Heck... it's one of the reasons I'm doing THIS show... THIS way!

What do you do... if you wake up discouraged?  Maybe that post you made yesterday didn't do what you'd hoped it would do.  Maybe you haven't sold as much coaching or speaking as you'd hoped this month.  Maybe you're feeling behind or overwhelmed or beaten up.

Hey... we're the Encouragers... but hey... that doesn't mean we're not going to get discouraged sometimes... right?

Full disclosure... with this episode... I talk about my faith a bit.  Because I believe there is a God (who loves us) and I also believe there is an enemy of God (and he's a punk).  Now... that may not be your thing... and that's okay.  But I believe it... and I also believe that God wants us to live our best lives and to do allllll that we were created to do and be.  And I believe the enemy of God wants the opposite of that!  And... he hates that YOU encourage other people to live THEIR best lives too.  So... I think the enemy of God tries to throw some extra curveballs at us Encouragers... to try to throw us off our game.

Well... whether you believe all of that or not... I do want to offer this next strategy.  Because it works!

I was just a guest on the AAP with Travis and Jess.  (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/aap-with-travis-and-jesse/id1523552524?i=1000584767050) They had me come on and we had an absolute blast!  If you're not familiar with their show... you need to check it out.  It's a great show and they have rocketed to the top 0.5% of all podcasts because of their heart, wisdom, humor and unique way of living at their best!  

But... while we were on... talking about Encouraging the Encouragers movement and THIS podcast... Jess brought up the importance of taking care of yourself!  Especially when you're an Encourager... and you're giving out day-to-day!  

So that inspired this BONUS episode where we talk about something I call my "Intentional Ten."  It's a simple strategy that allows you to reboot, rest and restore

I shared this strategy with one of my coaching clients who's a busy mom, a medical professional AND she's building a growing coaching and speaking business on the side!  She confessed she was feeling a sense of low-energy and low-confidence.... but at the same time... she wanted to bring her best to her clients and to the world.  So we did THIS two-minute exercise and it brought a sense of renewed confidence and focus.  Heck... after doing this thing... she was ready to take on the freeeegin' world!  So... if you're needing a dose of energy, confidence or focus... especially as you're getting ready to write a blog post or record a video... or you're ramping up for a coaching call or to take the stage... listen in and give it!  It's a game-changer and it's pretty fun too!  Enjoy!

Hey Encourager... here's a BONUS episode.  It's a thought for the day that I put out on social this morning... and I thought you might need it too!

It's a reminder to SHINE.  Don't play small.  Don't shrink.  Don't hide who you are.

Be bold. Be big. Be you!

It might mean that you need to let go of something someone said to you.  

But Encourager... as you do that... you'll inspire others to do it too!

Okay... I JUST had a conversation with a new Success Coach who's in our life coach training and certification program.

He was soooooooo excited to coach and encourage people... but he was freaking out a little (no... a lot) about his "Ideal Client."  He'd been told that he absolutely needs to get clear on his ideal client before he should start to promote his coaching practice... but he was feeling lost.

The good news was... I could let him know that even more business training was coming for him in the program he's in... BUT I wanted to calm his anxiety and help him stay on fire and freeeeegin' encouraged.

So... we talked about one of the most simple... and at the same time... most powerful strategies for getting clear on your ideal client.

Now... this strategy can work for life coaches and success coaches... but it can also work for people who want to be motivational speakers and workshop facilitators.  

Listen in... and then do some praying (if that's your thing) and/or meditation with this strategy in mind!  I can tell you that this approach has helped countless coaches and speakers that we've helped... and if you allow it... I'm betting it will help you too!

As I was walking my pup Hiro this morning... I was reminded of a particular moment in my speaking career.  

In full transparency... it was at a low-point in my journey. I'd had some set backs... and things were tough.  I'd been asked to open a conference but I felt like a fraud (you'll hear why).  I wanted to speak... but at the same time... I didn't know if I could pull it off.

I didn't realize it at the moment... but I was just one encouragement away from a breakthrough.

So... that's what I want to get you!

One encouragement. (Maybe more.)

Because I believe you are soooooooo close to a breakthrough!  So let's get you there!
