This week Dave and Wendy answer the following question from Kathy via email:
“What Is the longest you should run while training for an Ironman? What are you thoughts about running on road vs. treadmill. Almost all my training runs are done inside expect long runs on weekends. I find it easier to keep the pace on treadmill.”

This week Dave and Wendy answer the following question from Troy via email:
“I’ve been watching Endurance Hour for some time now, and it’s very helpful and encouraging! I’m 52, last year I was way over weight and terrible condition. Last year I began my workouts. I’ve been swimming 3x/wk for a year now. Started biking and lost 65 lbs. I did a sprint Triathlon at the end of July.  I now live in Oklahoma and have stated Joe Friel’s, “Your first triathlon”.  My question is, should I stick with that and just do an another sprint? I’m a pretty competitive guy and I enjoy the training. I can’t seem to find the right fit, don’t feel like I’m a complete beginner especially for the swim part. Just trying to fit this for my age, weight and health. I really wanted to shoot for an Olympic Triathlon this summer.” – Troy

This week Dave and Wendy answer the following question from Laura via email:
“I am entering my third season of triathlon and have signed up for Chattanooga Ironman in September. This will be my fourth full distance, and I am looking for a coach for the season. I have had two different coaches in the previous two years, one being a very good swimmer and the other being a very good runner. I have been a runner for many years, but since that is my strength I like to try to maintain that fitness. The swim is my weakest and I am an average cyclist. Fortunately I am one of those people who gets to spend most of the day passing people, which can definitely be a morale booster! It seems like all the coaches I have spoken with are strongest in one of the three disciplines, so I am unsure how to pick my area of greatest need. I am also considering online coaching, but I am looking for guidance on good questions to ask to gauge a good fit.  I need suggestions? Thank you so much for your help, and I love listening to your podcast!” – Laura

This week Dave and Wendy answer the following question from Joe via email:
I am interested in entering a 2 day race next year that consists of a 50 mile mountain bike race on Saturday followed by trail marathon on Sunday. I am considering buying your “Ironman 70.3 Training Plan for Beginners: 16 weeks” but have a couple of questions.
Question 1: Considering that I will not swim in my race (no interest), should I just keep the plan as-is and just take out the swim workouts? Or perhaps, I should modify it in additional ways?
Question 2: Considering that this race is not until August 2018 and that I am not in racing shape or weight, should I start with the “Ironman 70.3 Training Plan for Beginners: 16 weeks” plan then stack the “Ironman Training Plan for Beginners: 16 weeks”? That would put me right at 8 month mark.
    Regards, Joe
