On today’s show we’re diving into energy and materials, and what short supply could mean for investors. We’re joined by Joe Overdevest, portfolio manager and director of research, and two members of his team, equity research analysts Thomas Goldthorpe and Claire Fleming. With host Pamela Ritchie, the panel looks at market trends shaping energy and materials in Canada and around the world. This includes reflecting on how the market is not used to this level of geopolitical risk, and discussing if volatility will continue as it tries to price in the risk of Russian energy supply being cut off. Joe, Thomas, and Claire also look at ESG, the reopening of travel and activities, as well as the recent high commodities prices and how this could benefit Canada’s economy.
Recorded on March 4, 2022.
