Robin answers the question - How do I deal with excessive tattling? Tattling is a universal problem, especially in the lower grades. Students feel safe knowing the teacher is aware of what’s happening. They want justice. A lot of teachers spend a good portion of the first weeks of school creating the rules & consequences. Some do it together with the class, so they take ownership and understand what it means to be a democracy. Others write all the rules themselves and create systems for the students to follow like pulling a weed or moving a magnetic stick. Robin shares the story of a 5th grade teacher who solved the problem of excessive tattling with a genius writing solution that was a win-win.
In the 2nd half of the show Robin explores the creative and unique solutions for working with, not against, standardized tests.
