Dubliner Dean 'Irish Lightening' Byrne was earmarked by legendary trainer Freddie Roach as a future world champion. 3 years later, things were on track as he moved base to the UK with a 14-0 record.

In October 2011, Dean comfortably outclassed Michael Frontin at York Hall. Just one week later, he fought again & took the first 'L' of his career as he boxed to keep the wolf from his door.

Far more relevant to Irish boxing are the fights in Scotland this weekend with 'Iceman' Keane McMahon travelling to take on local kid Deane Sutherland (6-0) for the BUI Celtic Welterweight Title. Dylan McDonagh also travels to Scotland for his bid to beat Billy 'The Butcher' Stuart as they clash for the Super bantamweight Celtic title.

Theres a review of last weeks Kieran Farrell interview and a look around whats happening on the world scene.

Kieran is one of those special characters who has an innate ability to connect with you. The injuries sustained by the then 22-year-old in his 2012 fight of the year contender very nearly took his life. But Kieran Farrell dosen't do nearly - he battled back, opened his own gym & recently he recieved royal recognition from Her Majesty the Queen for his work with children in his gym and his dedication to the community of Manchester.

now seeing the bright beginnings of this new Team Ireland, young, dynamic and more comfortable with the media than most of their predecessors. But Tony Browne would safely fit amongst the highest of those profiles. Articulate, cerebral, dedicated and hungry and very clearly focussed now on Tokyo 2020. He joins the pod as he & his co-pilot travel from an early morning pool seission to a mid morning track seission.

Al looks at both their fights and talks a little on how they could go.

Theres a round up on all the domestic boxing news aswell as a synopsis of the main stories making world boxing headlines.

Rock survived his turbulent youth on the rough streets of Dublin. His chequered past is now just a memory as he looks back on a hugely successful boxing career having fought some of the best of his generation before eventually becoming the first Irish boxer to win a pro wor;d title at Dublin's famous National Stadium.

LAS VEGAS (April 2, 2019) – The newest member of Roy Jones, Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions’ growing stable of gifted boxers, undefeated Irish middleweight prospect
