  • How partnering with charities can be great for your business - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

Bronwyn Campbell, the Director of Gifted Australia, an online eCommerce gift store that also donates 10% of profit to great Australian charity partners joins eCommerce Radio. She is also the author of the soon to be released book ‘The Power of Giving to Grow Your Business’.
Listen to interview with host Eric Dye & guest Bronwyn Campbell discuss the following:

    * What sorts of trends are you seeing in the uptake of online shopping in Australia?
    * Gifted Australia has a number of charity partners it works with. Why is this an area of focus for you?
    * What are the main benefits that businesses can gain from partnering with charities?
    * How has working with charity partners helped your business?
    * What advice would you give to other businesses thinking about developing a partnership with a charity?

Tip: Get out there and start doing some research on charity partners you might be able to align with. There’s lots of ways of going about partnering with charities and it doesn’t always have to be about handing over money. Although that can be a good way to go if there is the means to do so.
Bronwyn Campbell is the founding Director of Gifted Australia, an eCommerce business which sells beautiful products and experiences Australia wide and donates 10% of profit to registered charity partners.
Bronwyn is a sustainability and international development professional who has spent a number of years working with World Vision Australia on high level partnerships which provide strategic and financial benefit to both sides of those partnerships. She is passionate about businesses including charitable giving as part of their core offering.
Bronwyn believes that giving can not only help make businesses be seen for all the right reasons but can ultimately lead to increased profitability when the right partnerships are sought and implemented.

  • How to get your product manufactured in China - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

Elyse Daniels the CEO of Exodus Wear, a multi-million dollar business that provides fully customisable jackets, inside and out joins Enterprise Radio to discuss how to get your product manufactured in China.
Listen to interview with host Eric Dye & guest Elyse Daniels discuss the following:

    * What is the first step to getting your product manufactured in China?
    * Do you think it is necessary to visit China to get your product manufactured?
    * What advice would you give for someone attending a tradeshow?
    * Do you think it is better to use an agent or go direct to the factory?
    * What are some of the biggest pitfalls companies need to avoid when sourcing from China?

    About Exodus Wear:
Exodus Wear makes the most customisable jackets and tracksuits. We specialise in leavers wear for Year 12 students, tour jackets for dance schools and tracksuits for sporting groups but we can custom made and jackets or tracksuits for your group. Whether it is a baseball shirt for your Roller Derby Team, a satin bomber for your Car Club or a tracksuit for your Chorus Group (yes we have done all those!) we can make it for you and customise them to your specifications inside and out. Our jackets have been worn by Justin Bieber, Justice Crew, Kylie Sandilands, Stan Walker, Israel Cruz plus many more celebrities.

Entrepreneurship was always in her blood with Elyse’s family starting a promotional products business when she was just 12 years old. The school holidays saw her working for her parents and she even had some of her own clients. One of her clients was Australian fashion label Wheels and Dollbaby. Not being old enough to drive meant getting dropped off at the Wheels and Dollbaby store in Darlinghurst by her Dad who would wait in a nearby coffee shop until the appointment was over. From Wheels and Dollbaby she learnt how important attention to detail is for a brand not only in their products but in all their brand material. One memorable appointment was when she stood nervously waiting as Melanie Greensmith the founder of Wheels and Dollbaby picked the perfect pantone colour for their custom matchboxes.
As School Captain, Elyse got to refine her entrepreneurial skills further by organising fundraising events which helped raise thousands of dollars to be put towards Year 12 activities. After completing a Business & Marketing degree at the University of Western Sydney and securing a job at an international company Elyse thought she had ‘made it’. However she soon came to the realisation that she enjoyed the variety working in a small business offered and figured she might be suited to a smaller company where she would be able to offer her skills across a variety of areas in the business instead of specialising only in marketing.
At 20 she joined the family business in promotional products full-time and while there learnt the importance of personalisation and the demand for custom products. She saw an opportunity to sell jackets that were designed by the customer and customised inside and out focusing on the leavers wear market and community groups. In August 2009 she took her first order of custom jackets and with that Exodus Wear was born.
From there it was a quick transition to full time entrepreneur but a long journey with many ups and downs to reach the point of running a multi million dollar company servicing Australia wide. With highlights such as having Justin Bieber wear one of her jackets to learning first hand the pitfalls of sourcing direct from China every day the business teaches her something new.
“I think a big part of our success comes from placing no restrictions on what our customers can design but keeping the pricin...

  • How to Buy a Business with Mike Blake - Entrepreneur Podcast Network – EPN

Mike Blake, President of Arpeggio Advisors in Atlanta, a business appraisal and strategic advisory firm joins Enterprise Radio to discuss how to buy a business.
Listen to interview with host Eric Dye & guest Mike Blake discuss the following:

    * Why buy a Business?  Isn’t it a huge hassle?
    * Isn’t buying a business just for billion dollar firms or private equity moguls like Warren Buffet and Mitt Romney?
    * How do I find a business to buy?
    * What does the business-buying process look like?
    * How does one pay for the business?

Summary:  Have the target business appraised.  You wouldn’t buy a house without an appraisal, and you wouldn’t buy a car without looking up the Blue Book value.  Appraising a business before buying makes even more sense because the value drivers are usually much more complex.  You’ll be in a position to take advantage of a bargain, and avoid wasting time with unrealistic sellers.
Mike Blake is the founder of Arpeggio Advisors, a boutique business appraisal and corporate strategy advisory firm in Atlanta. Mike’s background has included work in venture capital, investment banking, and public accounting.
For the first eight years of his career, Mike worked in venture capital and investment banking in the U.S. and abroad. In 2004, Mike entered the business appraisal profession full-time, working most recently for Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, LLP (the largest independent public accounting firm headquartered in Atlanta). Mike led HA&W’s effort to become the first appraisal practice in Georgia to earn the International Society of Business Analysts’ Gold Seal of Trust, the only peer review recognition for observing best practices in the business appraisal profession in the United States.
Mike has particular expertise in the appraisal of firms in the fields of professional services, information technology, aerospace, and alternative energy. In addition, he has developed specific expertise in the appraisal of intellectual property and intangible assets.
Mike is an active educator. He is a Special Instructor of Business Valuation in the Georgia Tech/Emory University TI:GER (Technology Innovation: Generating Economic Results) program. In addition, he is regularly invited to provide instruction on entrepreneurship, corporate finance, and business valuation to graduate level classes at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, Kennesaw State University, the University of South Carolina, Georgia State University, and the University of Georgia. Furthermore, he regularly provides continuing professional education for his peers in the business valuation profession.
Mike earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and French (Cum Laude) from Franklin & Marshall College, from which he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. In addition, he holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Georgetown University. Mike is also a member of the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2014.
Mike’s additional professional and community-service passions include supporting entrepreneurship through education and nonprofit board involvement, raising awareness of and funding to combat Lou Gehrig’s Disease, promoting alternative energy development through market forces, advocating for de-stigmatizing mental illness and diso...

    * Do you play a role in sourcing and buying the coffee?
    * Given you serve only Ethiopian coffee and you’re Ethiopian. How much has your heritage played into your business?

Buunni Coffee: Micro-Roasted Beans from Coffee’s Birthplace Buunni Coffee is an ethical, fair-trade company that can make an unusual and enticing claim: it brings consumers a beverage direct from the birthplace of coffee. And, following centuries-old tradition, Buunni Coffee beans are micro-roasted to order for the highest possible quality. Roasting coffee beans in small quantities ensures fresh, rich flavors without the bitterness or acidity associated with mass-produced coffees. Certified fair trade and organic, Buunni’s Arabica beans come from small, local farms in Ethiopia. Growing in colder temperatures at high altitudes, Ethiopian Arabica beans have a longer growing cycle that creates more complex sugars and produces a bold flavor without bitterness. In rare cases where fair trade and organic are unavailable, Buunni sources from other reputable co-op Ethiopian farmers.
“Buunni” is Conscious Coffee Buunni’s name and passion for coffee are also direct imports from Ethiopia, where coffee is hand cleaned, roasted, brewed and presented in an elaborate age-old ceremony performed in households throughout the country to honor visitors. In Ethiopia, coffee is more than a beverage—it’s the taste and smell of lively social interaction and a required pleasure of everyday life. Coffee lovers can order micro-roasted Buunni Coffee online or visit Café Buunni in New York City, which features Buunni’s signature micro-roasted coffees, tea, an espresso bar, smoothies, frappes, a selection of fresh sweet and savory baked goods, take-home packaged Ethiopian foods and an eclectic selection of handmade artisan products.
