  • Ep. 72 - How to Share Your Epiphany

Marketing and sales scripts and messages should generally be focused on the customer. But in order to show that your stuff works, you will have to tell the story of how your product or service helped you achieve the desired result. Here's how you do it.

  • Ep. 71 - Was I wrong to Go Into Debt for College?

Understanding whether college is worth the time and money is a complicated topic.

I've been thinking a lot about it, and I really swing back-and-forth. I learned so much as an undergrad, specifically about writing and communication. Those topics were absolutely worth my time and money. No question. But what about the other $40,000 that I spent just to fill up the required hours?

Did I really need to spend $2,000 on an intro to Beowulf course? And there are SO many courses that cover topics that are really not relevant to my degree.

I believe in education. It's vital. But the cost of education is really at a point where I question whether it's even remotely worth the cost.

  • Ep. 70 - Udemy Might Not Be a Great Platform

I sold my first Udemy course! And I made $3. Look, I know they want to run sales, but this is just stupid.

Just to recap: I have a $97 course on Udemy. I have run no ads or traffic of any kind to the course yet. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to run traffic, and whether or not Udemy's platform will provide any organic traffic.

Turns out that there was some organic traffic, and it led to a sale. But somehow the sale only grossed $3. I would rather just give the course away as a free bonus than make $3, so it's not looking like Udemy's pricing and coupon structure is tremendously profitable.

But hey, I've done nothing to promote the course, so I'm not even close to jumping ship yet. There's still a lot of testing to be done.

  • Ep. 68 - Why you NEED Paid Traffic

Most of my business comes from referrals. This is great, kind of. This means that most of the clients are already educated about my product, my service, and me before I ever talk to them.

They are being referred by someone that they already trust, so I don't have to jump that huge hurdle. And that's amazing. The problem is, that means that I can't turn the tap to scale when I want to grow. I'm at their mercy.

That's why I'm always developing ways to get paid traffic to site.

We're running a contest WEEKLY starting next week, and we're giving away an LLC! We're waiving our $197 fee for the LLC creation, the EIN and the Operating Agreement! We're even covering your first $100 of your state filing fee! Get on my list to join!

  • Ep. 66 - How to Lose Your Entitlement

You are owed nothing. I am owed nothing.

Entitlement can work a few ways. The way most people think about it is that people want something for nothing. But that's only half the problem.

There are also people that expect something just for taking action. This is my problem. I have to remind myself that action doesn't always equal results. It has to be the right action, at the right time, to the right audience.

  • Ep. 65 - Does Your Offer Create Urgency?

Alright, here's the deal: If your product or service doesn't create a sense of urgency in your clients or customers, you're going to have a hard time selling your stuff.

Plain and simple. I know this because I've sold both urgent products and services and products and services that can sit on the shelf for a year. The amount of urgency your customer feels about your stuff will directly correlate to how easily you can get leads and make sales.
