  • Ep. 33 - Deliberate Practice
If you want to get really good at something, you have to set aside some time to practice. Yes, reading about a subject is good, and watching tutorials on how to improve will help you understand what you need to do to get better, but then you have to go out and practice the things you've learned about. NFL quarterbacks watch recordings of their opponents, and they look at charts and graphs and numbers, but then they go out and actually practice implementing their game plan by replicating the scenarios they've been focusing on (This is just for a lack of a better comparison, but you get the point). If you want to get on the waitlist for our FREE course on how to get better at making personal branding videos using some super cheap, and mostly free tools, go to thinkupstart.com/waitlist.

  • Ep. 32 - Single Point of Failure
When you're building a business you cannot pretend to know everything. You have to be self-aware. At the end of the day, if you don't use the assets around you to build the strongest business, you're hurting the business and you will ultimately fail.

  • Ep. 31 - Think UpStart and The Content Monsters
When I first entered into Think UpStart I imagined this well-oiled machine that was pumping out at least three blogs a week, a couple of videos, a few podcast episodes, and maybe a few Facebook Lives. But there is so much to do that a lot of the content creation gets pushed to the side. So I'm going to make a real effort to push out at least one blog this week that will really help some entrepreneurs, and generate some leads!

  • Ep. 30 - Webinar Swebinar Part 2 with Chris & Robby
So we finished the webinar, and the webinar funnel, and the slides! The only problem is that we had such a tight deadline that we weren't able to get it completely ready in time to really make an effort to promote it. But we turned it all over in less than 4 days! Considering we ended up with a really great piece of content, and pretty decent funnel, some promo videos and images, and some great experience, I'm really happy with what we turned out. More important than anything we created, is that we've been in the trenches together on a super tight, super high-stress situation, which is one of the reasons I wanted to turn this over so quickly. Want to register for the webinar I've been talking about all week? Go to thinkupstart.com and get registered!

  • Ep. 28 - Hard Deadlines, Quality Control and Growing Pains
If you've made the decision to enter into a partnership, you better be ready to knock heads with your partners. It's uncomfortable, but that's just what happens when you have high expectations of yourself, and everyone around you. And if you've made good, thoughtful decisions about your partners, they will have high expectations as well. So, there's a delicate balance that has to be met between meeting your deadlines, quality control, and everyone's vision. But if you can make it through all of the initial growing pains and hair pulling, and maybe even a little ankle biting, you're either going to hate each other or have an extremely strong bond and a strong business.

  • Ep. 27 - It's a Spooky, Spooky Situation Out Here
Does your business need an LLC (or some sort of protection at the state level)? Yes, it does! If you're operating your business without some sort of protection at the state level you're in a very scary situation! There's a real possibility that your business could get sued, and if you don't have an LLC, that means that technically you don't have a business, it's just you, and all of your personal assets are up for grabs. I talk about this issue a lot with solopreneurs, but it's even more important for business with multiple owners to understand because you're not legally liable for the actions of someone else, and as much as you might love and trust that person, their actions could lead to you losing your house, your savings, everything. This is not some speculation. These are the facts about legal liability. If you want more info you can email me at [email protected].

  • Ep. 25 - Launching Think UpStart
Super excited to announce that I'm launching a new business with Chris Brinkley of Silvia Consultants and Robby Hirst of RH Media. The business is called Think Upstart, and we're teaming up to do some software reviews, affiliate marketing and online business consulting. I'm going to be talking a lot about the launching process on here, just so the listeners can get a real inside look at what's happening with our launch, the mistakes we make, celebrating out gains, and talking about the money side of how it works. The business' online home will be at ThinkUpStart.com, so be sure to check out what we're doing there if you want to look at our branding and how that gets designed. Man! This is going to provide some really valuable content to listeners, and some great experience for us, and just a crazy amount of value to Think UpStart's clients. We've created a pretty good group of entrepreneurs that are out there doing it every day, growing real businesses, and testing everything. So if you're looking to see how a powerhouse trio partnership can work, this show should provide some great lessons.

  • Ep. 24 - Want to Hear Me Just Reading Some Stats About B2B Consumers? This is Your Show!
Millennials. Not only is it a polarizing term, it's also a term I have literally never spelled properly on the first try! Seriously, Grammarly is really working overtime when I write about this subject because that word is hard! I'm pretty sure there are about 4 or 5 L's back-to-back right in the middle somewhere. Stats! Are they trustworthy? Sometimes. Are they exciting? No, not really. But I recorded a podcast while reacting to them! Is that exciting? Oh, you better bet your sweet ass it is! (I'm really just curious if anybody reads these show notes. I've never read the show notes to a podcast in my life, so I put very little time into these. If you actually read them, send an email to [email protected] with the subject Sweet Ass and I'll laugh to myself and give you a shoutout on the show).
