Severe Convective Storms are kicking up a lot of interest for insurers, reinsurers, modelers and weather watchers. Several reports out this year show these storms are becoming more damaging and dangerous in recent years. SCS events amounted to $60 billion last year, or nearly half of all insured natural catastrophe losses, according to one report. We spoke with Andrew Higgins with Allianz to find out what’s going on.
