Our month of honoring Dad’s wraps up with singer, songwriter, and author Michael W. Smith, who joins Paula and her sister, Diane, for an empowering episode. The GRAMMY Award winning artist opens up about his struggle with addiction, early in his career, including the night he hit rock bottom and nearly died. He talks about the moment he realized, at a young age, that his calling was to pursue a career in music instead of following in the athletic footsteps of his father, who was a Minor League Baseball player. Smith released his 15th book this year titled, “The Way of the Father: Lessons from my Dad, Truths about God” which he dedicated to his late father. He also talks about freedom of forgiveness, the power of a great mentor, and the one song that he will spend the rest of his life singing.
“One day I thought, ‘oh I could try this. I could play with fire and not get burned.’ And that’s where the deception comes in.”
