EP 261 Andrew Kishino: Hip Hop Artist Becomes Voice Over Superstar | Overcoming Obstacles

Listen Later

Chuck & Stacey are thrilled to welcome the dynamic and very cool Andrew Kishino to the show for this exclusive interview. Andrew is a versatile actor, musician, composer and producer known for his voice acting work in The Lion Guard, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and as Saw Guerrara in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He talks about how he found his way from Toronto to Los Angeles and the ways that Hip Hop music helped him with his self-confidence and overcoming obstacles like dyslexia. He shares some things he’s learned along the way from friends and colleagues like, Rob Paulsen and Dave Walsh, who have helped him embrace and celebrate his true self. Andrew explains how he interprets copy as a work around to manage his dyslexia and believes that quiet confidence is better than loud arrogance. He explains his process when auditioning and offers some tips, then discusses some do’s and don’ts when recording and editing audio files at home. He stresses that once he used the life experiences that are unique to him to his advantage, he discovered that everything he needed, he already possessed.
