EPISODE 291 - Chuck and Stacey welcome respected voice casting director and voice director, Andrea Toyias of Blizzard Entertainment, who is responsible for epic titles like World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch and Starcraft. Andrea speaks to the skill sets that voice casting directors need to have to be effective and her approach to casting which is to find actors who reveal their humanity and truth. She talks about the creation of the video game Overwatch and Blizzard’s Entertainment’s objective to make an inclusive story that makes the world a better place. Andrea shares more about her early years and the series of events that led her to work as a recording engineer and discover the world of video games. She explains what stands out to her when listening to auditions and things that she doesn’t like about performance and audio quality. Andrea details the workflow of a new project with her colleagues at Blizzard and how it moves forward into casting it. She offers wisdom for actors wanting to pursue acting for video games that requires having amazing acting skills and a very versatile toolbox of talents to access.
