Ep. 39 Escapees RVer’s Boondocking Policy

Listen Later

If you enjoy boondocking and dry camping, you are really going to enjoy today’s episode. Travis Carr, president of Escapees RV Club, tells us about their new RVer’s Boondocking Policy. Escapees has developed simple guidelines to help preserve BLM land and keep boondocking fun for all. These guidelines will not only keep our lands safe but also help everyone enjoy the opportunity to unplug and experience the peace and quiet of going off-grid.

Why Develop a Boondocking Policy

It is so important to respect the land and one another. Escapees’ policy makes it very easy to do just that with 5 points of practice. We hope everyone who RVs takes these points seriously and helps spread the word on how we should treat each other and the land.

Travis & Melanie Carr
Escapees’ History of Preserving RVing

This is not the first time Escapees has put something like this together to protect the RVing lifestyle. Years ago, they put together the RVers Good Neighbor Policy for overnight parking etiquette, which helped places like Walmart, Cracker Barrel, and other business properties continue to allow RVers be able to stop in their parking lots overnight.

Travis tells us “We have a lot of support from the community, but in addition, there has also been industry support since we announced it. We have had Dometic, Winnebago, Harvest Host, and others.” Travis goes on to say that “Our goal is to get as much support as possible. There are a lot of organizations out there, such as Tread Lightly and Leave No Trace, who do a great job of educating on this topic, but they are not RV specific. So, that is where our policy differs”

We hope you found this episode enjoyable and educational. We also hope that you help spread the word of this new policy. You can check out the policy here.
