(NOTE: When Dr. Campbell says 8 million cancer deaths in the U.S. She meant to say it was 8 million cancer deaths worldwide)
Coronavirus, it is difficult to log on a computer or turn on your TV and not hear the devasting reports from around the world. Because of this, we thought it would be a good time to bring Dr. Sabrina Campbell on the show to answer some questions about the virus and what can we do as RVers to protect ourselves.
Dr. Campbell is a Pulmonary/Critical care physician and she explains how the Coronavirus is different from the flu. Does she think we are overreacting? Are campground and bathhouses safe? Do Full Time RVers have an increased risk of contracting Coronavirus? how do you know when it is time to go to the hospital? She also shares her tips on how to help prevent contracting the virus and she explains why social distancing is so important.
“They expect about 40 to 80 percent of the population is going to get this at some point in time. The concern everybody is getting it at the same time and you end up with a situations like Italy right now.
When they talk about flattening the curve, it’s the same amount of people getting sick, they’re just getting sick over a longer duration of time. So, it may be 6 months, a year, or 18 months people are getting sick, rather than them all coming in the first 2 or 3 months and we have a situation in which we have to start making hard decisions of who gets what because we just don’t have enough resources. That’s why I would encourage everybody, if they can social distance, to do that as much as possible. Avoid going out if you don’t have to“
