"In the past ten years only seven dermatology trained individuals pursued fellowship training in pediatric dermatology and only five of those people are still in Canada."
Dr Elena Pope joins Kirk Barber for a conversation about her article in the November-December issue of the JCMS: “Pediatric Dermatology in Canada: A Broad Review of Population Needs, Workforce and Training With Proposed Solutions.”
It is a fascinating and important conversation about an article that Kirk describes as a call to action to fix the crisis in pediatric dermatology.
Dr Elena Pope is the Division Head of Paediatric Dermatology, at the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children and she is a professor of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto medical school. She is also the Chair of the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance.
Her co-authors are Irene Lara-Corrales, Wingfield Rehmus, Michele Ramien, Shanna Spring, Catherine McCuaig, Loretta Fiorillo, Cathryn Sibbald and James Bergman.
This podcast is supported by an educational grant from Incyte Biosciences Canada, available through the CDA Corporate Supporter Program.
Dr Barber and his guests do not receive any financial reimbursement for the production of the podcast.
