1. 轉換跑道 (Zhuǎnhuàn pǎodào): to opt for a different (career) path

2. 財經 (Cáijīng): short for 財務金融, Finance is a major at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

3. 斜槓 (Xié gàng): slashie

4. 雙主修 (Shuāng zhǔ xiū) : double major

5. 投資銀行與併購 ( Tóuzī yínháng yǔ bìnggòu): Investment Banking and Merger, one of the courses Emily took in graduate school.

7. 雷隊友 (Léi duìyǒu): an unreliable teammate

8. 課表很有彈性 (Kèbiǎo hěn yǒu tánxìng): to have a very flexible class schedule, which means students can choose whatever they want to learn in universities without having a lot of limitations

9 . 印象深刻 (Yìnxiàng shēnkè ) : impressive

10. 通識課 (Tōng shì kè) : general education course

11. 生死議題與臨終關懷 (Shēngsǐ yìtí yǔ línzhōng guānhuái): Life, Death, and Hospice Care, one of the general education courses Cathy took during university

12. 喪禮 (Sānglǐ) : funeral

13. 戶外教學 (Hùwài jiàoxué) : field trip

14. 靈堂 (Língtáng) : mourning hall

15. 遺書 (Yíshū) : will

16. 法師 (Fǎshī): One of the titles of Buddhist monks originally refers to those who can master and study the Dharma and can explain the Dharma to the lay people. Today, "Master" is a respectful title for Buddhist monks.

17. 交換學生 (Jiāohuàn xuéshēng) : exchange student

18. 學分修很滿 (Xuéfēn xiū hěn mǎn)： when you try to claim every credit possible during one semester

19. 先苦後甘 (Xiān kǔ hòu gān): A hard beginning makes a good ending
