On May 31, 1995, in Oslo, Norway, a woman registered as "Jennifer Fairgate" was checking into the Plaza Hotel. As she signed her registration card, no one noticed that she signed "Jennifer Fergate" and not "Fairgate". It was a very busy evening at the hotel, and the front desk employees failed to not only notice the name discrepancy, but they also never got a credit card or identification from Jennifer. A few days later, Jennifer was supposed to check out. But when she failed to do so, and also ignored several messages sent to her room TV, security was called.
