Edgar Cayce had a likely Near-Death Experience sometime around 1883/1885 after drowning in a pond whilst fishing.

He gained some very strong psychic gifts and went on to do some incredible work in the area of readings and healing. Due to his age, and the lack of information around such phenomena at the time, it can only be speculated in modern times that what Edgar went through was an NDE.
