In today’s case we explore how the powerful strength of a mother’s love combined with her resilience , stoicism & courage allowed one woman to fight for the justice her beloved daughter so deserved.
22 year old Julie Hogg was tragically found murdered in her own home in Billingham County Durham in November 1989.
Her death left behind a young son & her distraught mother Ann Ming who had to watch as Julie’s killer laughed about the fact he had gotten away with her murder as he walked away from court a free man …
Ann Ming MBEs refusal to give up in the face of this adversity gave Julie, along with many other victims of violent crime, a voice when their own could no longer be heard .
Proving she is a one woman powerhouse of determination her endless 17 year campaign for justice for Julie resulted in the UK finally changing an 800 year old double jeopardy law.
A law that had long allowed criminals like Dunlop to slip away from justice & walk free.
But thanks to Ann that is no longer the case .
Now killers like Dunlop Along with many others can now face the full weight of the law & have been duly punished for their horrific crimes, even if in the past they had already been found not guilty, all thanks to the reforming of the double jeopardy law ….and leading Ann to be appointed an MBE for services to the criminal justice system.
Today we discuss how she refused to give up , & persevered for years despite suffering from PTSD & experiencing the most painful trauma a human can go through .
Ann still had the unbreakable strength to fight for what she believed in.
Her incredible crusade created legal history that continues to positively impact Britain & means Julie’s memory & legacy will live on forever ….
