It was the evening of July 14th 2001 when 27 year old Joanne Lees and her boyfriend 28 year old Peter Falconio were driving their camper van down the Stuart highway , which is situated in one of the most remote and dangerous parts of Australia.

The pair had been enjoying travelling around the world and were excited to explore Australia and their future plans ahead of them .

That is until they noticed some headlights following behind them in the dark ..

After pulling over to see what this person in the vehicle wanted, a loud gunshot rings out in the darkness and before Joanne has time to think the man launches himself on her and ties her up …

What follows is a terrifying and shocking story that has had people across the world questioning Joanne’s version of events, despite some corroborating evidence, & even after Peters killer Bradley Murdoch was finally caught & charged with his murder .
