Today we are talking about the lies that we tell ourselves. These lies completely damage our marketing and they keep us from getting our dream clients. If you are not getting clients actively, I guarantee you’re telling yourself at least one, if not more, of these lies.
There are many different lies, however here are 8 specific lies that most high achieving women in business tell themselves, whether they realize it or not.
The online world really perpetuates this one. Social media is nothing but a highlights reel. Very few people talk about the struggles that they face in their business.
But let me tell you, it takes time to build a sustainable business.
“A sustainable business is one that grows.” – Michelle Vroom
Do you have a process in place to get clients? Do you have a process that you can repeat over and over again to get clients?
It’s not a matter of how fast it grows. In my experience, it takes at least 6 months to a year to bring on steady clients. If you’re not willing to commit to doing the work that’s needed to build a solid foundation, then you should not be in business.
Here is the question I would ask you… How can you make the time?
Every single person has the same 24 hours in a day. How are you making the most of them? People make time for the things they truly want.
Why aren’t you making the time? There’s something below the surface there and you need to figure out what that is.
If you could figure it out on your own, wouldn’t you have done it already?
Everybody needs help. Everybody needs support. We’re not objective when it comes to our own businesses.
How long are you willing to wait for clients and how much is that costing you?
The most successful entrepreneurs are the ones who recognize where they need help.
If it is something that you really believe is going to move your business forward, how could you afford it? You’ll invest in what you see value in.
Is it really, truly that you can’t afford it? It almost never is. Or is it that you don’t see the value and don’t believe that you can get results?
Is it really that nothing works for you? Have you given it enough time to work?
You need to separate the facts from the feeling. If something has worked for you before, is it possible that it can work for you again?
The only way something doesn’t work is if you decide it doesn’t and you quit.
“We always chose comfort over fear. – Michelle Vroom”
There is a lot of fear that comes along with getting clients. Either way, we often chose comfort over clients.
But in order to grow, you do need to do the uncomfortable things. Stop putting your needs first and start putting the needs of your clients first.
What do my clients need? What does my business need? Make a list. And then start doing those things.
If you had someone telling you what to do, you would already be successful in your business. There is a lot of information online!
But you can do all the right things and still not get the result that you want. The reason is because what’s going on in your mind is what’s driving your actions and your behavior. If your mindset is still bad then you’re not going to get clients.
Also, what works for one person may not work for another. Even something that worked for you at one point in your business may not continue working the way that it once did.
Strategy is not the real issue here, it’s what’s going on in your mind because that is what dictates the steps that you take in that strategy.
Any time we experience fear we run from it because it’s supposedly bad. We think it means that we’re making the wrong decision. And unfortunately this lie causes many women to run from things that are the best things for them!
Fear is a good thing. Because when you feel fear, it tells you that this thing is important to you. Fear is a sign that you’re on the right track because we don’t fear the things that we don’t care about.
Stop fighting the fear. When you experience fear, you should know that it’s important to you and ask yourself what you need to do to take action in spite of the fear.
I hope this has helped you identify what lies you are telling yourself and how they are holding you back and keeping you from getting clients. Once you identify what the lies are, you can take the steps you need to overcome them.
Even if you just tackle one of these lies, you’re going to see a huge improvement in getting clients. I can’t wait to see what changes for you when you start to show up differently!
