We're joined by Joseph Haboush for Episode 119 of The Beirut Banyan, and we discuss the difficulties facing traditional media outlets like The Daily Star - Lebanon, and the determination of news reporters to deliver content despite financial woes.
Joseph reflects on The Daily Star's continued tradition of training younger journalists covering the region who have gone on to work for renowned international outlets, and why long-form articles still matter in light of social media's power giving citizen journalists their own separate platform.
Joseph is the former online desk editor at The Daily Star - Lebanon and is a reporter at The Telegraph's Middle East desk. He is a non-resident fellow at The Middle East Institute.
